Production Worker - Counter-Sorter

Job Summary

The Soil Counter/Sorter is responsible for managing, counting, and categorizing incoming soiled textiles from clients. This role involves identifying textiles that are damaged or have been misused, preparing them for transfer to other departments, and performing other necessary tasks. The position operates within a non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions

• Sort soiled textiles by type, size, and color after opening the bags.
• Perform manual or electronic counting of textiles and integrate them into sorting systems.
• Identify and document damaged or abused textiles within the sorting systems.
• Adhere to established efficiency and safety benchmarks for the role.
• Follow all directives provided by supervision.

Additional Functions

• Assist in other production roles as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to distinguish colors and sizes, and to count with accuracy.
• Capacity to understand and follow instructions.

Typical Physical Activity

The physical demands of this role include prolonged standing and walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, and stooping. Employees must be capable of meeting these physical requirements throughout their entire shift.

Typical Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in the production areas of an industrial laundry facility. This environment may feature fluctuating temperatures, odors, humidity, and the presence of lint and dust. The soiled linens handled originate from diverse clients including restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and various shops.
