Overview
This role is for a production planner supporting a specialized advanced-materials manufacturer in Watsonville, California. The position is centered on keeping manufacturing work organized, materials flowing, and schedules aligned so products are delivered on time and production stays efficient. Because the business serves demanding industries such as electronics and manufacturing, this role has a direct impact on final product performance and delivery.
What you will do
- Build and manage production schedules across the full manufacturing process.
- Track production progress to help maintain material flow and timely shipments.
- Use engineering drawings, bills of materials, and production documents to create schedules and capacity plans.
- Revise plans when shortages, staffing limitations, design updates, or delays affect output.
- Keep production records accurate, including shipping and inventory activity in ERP/MRP software.
- Assist manufacturing operations with kitting, reporting, and related documentation.
- Investigate scheduling problems and follow through until production is back on track.
- Partner with production, engineering, and operations teams to strengthen workflow and improve efficiency.
What we are looking for
- A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Ability to read and understand bills of materials, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Good problem-solving, organization, and communication abilities.
- Comfort working on several priorities at once in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
