Role Overview

Flack Global Metals (FGM) and Pacesetter operate as one integrated platform, and this position helps strengthen how customers are supported across supply, pricing, and execution. The Production Planner will be responsible for coordinating manufacturing activities, setting workflow priorities, and making sure customer orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The role connects operations, vendors, customer service, and commercial teams to help balance demand, production capacity, inventory movement, and profitability.

FGM-Pacesetter combines service-center operations with market knowledge and pricing discipline to better support steel and aluminum customers. With a presence in major markets such as Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago, the organization offers regional inventory and processing support, structured supply programs with order management, and integrated pricing backed by market insight. The overall goal is to deliver greater consistency, visibility, and reliability in how customers source and manage metals.

Core Responsibilities

In this role, you will help ensure products are produced and delivered on time while meeting quality and cost expectations. You will coordinate schedules, manage priorities, work with vendors and internal stakeholders, and support ongoing improvements in the production process.

  • Build, prioritize, and update production schedules using customer demand, open backlog, existing orders, and upcoming needs.
  • Make sure materials are processed correctly so finished goods can be shipped on time.
  • Track work-in-progress and keep production schedules current and accurate.
  • Record completed production transactions quickly to support timely customer shipments.
  • Maintain detailed logs for open purchase orders, including schedule changes, production progress, and other key order details.
  • Communicate delays, risks, and timing changes to relevant stakeholders as soon as they arise.
  • Work with processing vendors to accelerate orders when needed.
  • Share production status updates and schedule information with Customer Service and Commercial teams.
  • Learn the capabilities, strengths, limitations, and capacity of processing partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and internal business partners.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure production requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor production costs and alert Commercial and Customer Service teams when costs differ from initial estimates.
  • Estimate and monitor scrap rates for production orders to support accurate quoting and margin protection.
  • Support Commercial and Customer Service teams with scrap assumptions and cost modeling.
  • Record cost adjustments and production data accurately to support proper margin realization.
