Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a Product Manager IV focused on cybersecurity, with working hours from 2 pm to 11 pm IST. The role is centered on driving strategic revenue and growth across managed security offerings, especially the Rackspace Cyber Defense Center (RCDC), managed security services, AI-assisted security capabilities, and key technology alliances.

About the Role

The product manager will study market shifts, competitor moves, and customer requirements within the managed security space, then turn those insights into product requirements and go-to-market direction. The role also involves shaping product planning and solution design at an architectural level, helping guide security technology investments, and developing materials that support marketing, sales, and partner enablement. The position spans the full product lifecycle from early concept through launch and eventual retirement, in close partnership with engineering, security operations, alliance teams, and other internal stakeholders.

Career Level Expectations

  • Needs strong, specialized experience across cybersecurity product management and managed security services.
  • Expected to lead complex problem-solving across product direction, security architecture, and customer outcomes.
  • Works mostly independently, with support only in highly complex situations.
  • May provide functional leadership to product managers or cross-functional projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Set and own the roadmap and strategic direction for managed security products and capabilities.
  • Create and keep product requirements current based on customer security outcomes, threat trends, and competitive positioning.
  • Assess security technology options at an architectural level, including fit, integration, and platform capability, while working with engineering, delivery, and alliance teams.
  • Lead analysis of whether to build, buy, or partner for new capabilities, considering detection coverage, integrations, and operational impact.
  • Build business cases for new security offerings, including revenue estimates, differentiation, and launch planning.
  • Work with product marketing to create messaging, collateral, and sales training that clearly explains the value of security offerings to enterprise customers.
  • Represent product direction in operational discussions so that roadmap choices stay aligned with SOC capability and customer SLA commitments.
  • Coordinate product areas across detection engineering, threat intelligence, IAM, network security, cloud security, application security, onboarding, and partner-enabled services.
  • Coach and support other product managers when needed.
  • Represent security products in partner, alliance, and analyst discussions.

Security Domain Knowledge

The role requires practical awareness of several cybersecurity domains. Deep engineering expertise is not required, but the candidate should understand the threat environment, common solution patterns, and how each area supports managed security delivery.

  • Detection and response platforms such as XDR, SIEM, and SOAR, including telemetry collection, detection pipelines, alert triage, SOC workflows, and MTTD/MTTR improvement.
  • Threat intelligence processes, feed formats, indicator management, and use of intelligence in detection systems.
  • Identity and access management concepts such as authentication, authorization, privileged access, identity governance, and identity-based attack techniques.
  • Network security controls such as segmentation, perimeter and edge protection, intrusion detection, DDoS mitigation, and Zero Trust or SASE models.
  • Application security topics including web app vulnerabilities, common attack methods, WAF and API security, and runtime protection.
  • Secure SDLC practices, threat modeling, DevSecOps patterns, and how development security affects attack surface.
  • Cloud security fundamentals, including shared responsibility, cloud-native controls, posture management, and common misconfigurations and attacks.
  • Information protection concepts such as classification, DLP, encryption, rights management, and insider risk controls.
  • GRC frameworks and compliance needs relevant to enterprise customers, including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA/HITRUST, FedRAMP, and CMMC.
  • Vulnerability management, including CVE/CVSS, exposure management, and how vulnerability data flows into security workflows.
  • AI security use cases, including behavioral analytics, anomaly detection, automated response, and evaluation of AI-driven vendor claims and risks.
  • Industry and adversarial frameworks used for positioning and portfolio strategy, including MITRE ATT&CK, MITRE D3FEND, OWASP, CSA CCM, NIST CSF, Gartner Magic Quadrant, and Forrester Wave.

Required Skills

  • Product strategy and roadmap leadership for security or technology platforms
  • Strong stakeholder coordination across engineering, delivery, legal, finance, sales, alliances, customers, partners, and vendors
  • Agile and Lean delivery methods in a managed services environment
  • Business case creation and financial analysis for security offerings
  • Competitive research and market positioning in MSSP and GSI contexts
  • Cross-functional work with product, engineering, and SOC teams
  • Go-to-market planning, including messaging, sales enablement, and partner alignment
  • Ability to analyze security telemetry, product usage, and operational metrics
  • Alliance and partner relationship management
  • Process improvement focused on delivery quality and operational efficiency
  • Clear written and verbal communication for executive, technical, and customer audiences
