Job description

About Belle

Belle is a rapidly expanding engagement company transforming home healthcare, starting with foot care. Across the U.S., more than 25 million seniors can no longer see or reach their feet, and the resulting gaps in self-care and mobility create over $38 billion in avoidable medical costs each year for health plans.

Belle trains and coordinates a network of nail technicians, referred to as Community Health Workers, who deliver in-home foot care services, also known as medical pedicures. The company applies advanced data science to find the members most likely to benefit on behalf of health plans and then routes services accordingly. During home visits, Community Health Workers also perform assessments and screenings and are often the first to notice new concerns below or above the knee. When issues are identified, remote nurses work with other providers to coordinate care and help prevent serious, costly health events.

The company’s mission is to bring joy to healthcare. Candidates who connect with that purpose are encouraged to apply.

Role Overview

Belle is hiring a Product Engineer who approaches the job like a product owner, not merely someone who closes tickets. In this role, you will be responsible for features from start to finish: clarifying the problem, designing the solution, delivering it, and then evaluating how it performs in practice. The focus is not only on writing code that works, but on understanding why the work matters and what happens once it is released.

This position is a particularly strong match for a recent graduate or an early-career engineer who has already been building independently and wants to contribute to work that has a visible effect on patient outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and launch complete features across the Ruby on Rails web application and the React Native mobile app.
  • Partner with product, clinical operations, and care teams to convert unclear operational needs into working software.
  • Own features across the full lifecycle, from initial scoping through deployment and follow-up improvements.
  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools extensively to increase speed, output, and quality.
  • Create internal software, automations, and integrations that improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze product and operational data to verify whether new work delivered the intended results.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, code review, testing, and release rollouts.

Requirements

  • 0 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience; internships and substantial personal projects are considered relevant.
  • Hands-on experience with React or React Native, plus Ruby on Rails, which are Belle’s core technologies and mandatory for the role.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and comfort working with relational databases; the team expects you to query data to measure the impact of your work.
  • Clear proof that you are a builder, with shipped personal projects beyond coursework.
  • Comfort using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar, along with informed opinions on effective use.
  • Strong product thinking, including the ability to question whether something should be built and whether it succeeded.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a strong bias toward action in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to Metabase or comparable BI and analytics tools.
  • Experience with Inertia.js.
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and automation workflows.
  • Interest in or prior exposure to healthcare, digital health, or value-based care.

Application Note

Applicants should include an example of something they have personally built and launched, such as a live project, GitHub repository, or a tool created for their own use. The submission should briefly explain what it does, why it was created, and how AI coding tools were used during the process. Belle places more weight on this evidence of building than on the résumé alone.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay aligned with experience.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid time off, sick leave, wellness leave, and paid holidays.
  • Opportunity for substantial career growth and broader responsibilities.
  • The chance to help reshape an industry and protect lives.
