Job description

About the Company

SideKix HQ Inc. builds tools and support systems that help people turn entrepreneurial ideas into real products and services. Its platform focuses on personalized guidance, journey mapping, resource discovery, an advisor marketplace, micro-learning, and community connections. The company’s broader mission is to expand opportunity, innovation, and economic mobility by helping reduce cycles of poverty and inequality.

Role Overview

This is a portfolio-driven, remote-friendly internship for a Product Designer Intern working on both mobile and desktop experiences. The position is unpaid, but the company notes that many universities may allow students to receive academic credit or a stipend for unpaid internships, and encourages candidates to check with their university career center.

What You Will Work On

  • Designing iOS-first mobile app screens and end-to-end user flows in Figma.
  • Creating interactive prototypes that closely reflect the final user experience.
  • Developing and updating design components, variants, and lightweight design systems.
  • Designing micro-interactions and motion elements that improve clarity and ease of use.
  • Working directly with the founder and engineering team on real product choices.
  • Refining designs quickly based on feedback, product constraints, and user needs.

This internship is focused on real product design work rather than observation or shadowing.

What the Company Is Looking For

  • Practical proficiency with Figma.
  • Experience with components, Auto Layout, and prototyping.
  • Genuine interest in product design beyond visual aesthetics.
  • Comfort designing mobile applications, not only websites.
  • Curiosity about UX, interaction design, and motion.
  • Experience using Photoshop products.
  • Experience using WordPress.
  • Ability to communicate the reasoning behind design choices.
  • Interest in building meaningful portfolio work rather than filler projects.

What You Do Not Need

  • Many years of prior experience.
  • A flawless portfolio.
  • Enrollment at a specific school.

The team values clear thinking and willingness to learn more than polish.

What You Will Gain

  • Completed product work that can be included in your portfolio.
  • Direct mentorship during the internship.
  • Exposure to how early-stage products are designed, built, and launched.
  • Meaningful ownership of work that will not be lost in a backlog or folder.
  • Strong references if the internship performs well.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility.
  • Internship length is flexible, with 6 months listed as the ideal duration.

Application Materials

  • A portfolio, Figma file, or examples of your work, whether finished or still in progress.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
