Product Designer, Human Interface

About the role

Meta is looking for a product designer to help shape experiences that make it easier for people to connect, join communities, and grow businesses. This role sits within a multidisciplinary design environment working across products such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Meta Quest, and related technologies used by billions of people.

As part of the product design team, you will influence how products are built from early ideation through final polish before launch. The work blends product design, interaction design, and visual design, and includes partnering with product and executive stakeholders on strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects independently, delivering complete work for entire features within a clearly defined product area.
• Create user flows and experiences that are simple, polished, and intuitive across supported platforms.
• Develop new layouts and interactions that shape or expand visual systems.
• Share feedback with other designers and actively seek critique to improve the overall quality of the work.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, UX researchers, and content strategists to guide the user experience from concept through launch.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience designing complex software products with emphasis on user experience, interaction design, and visual design that support business goals.
• Experience conducting advanced usability testing and using input from a range of stakeholders to shape product direction.
• Ability to build design strategies, lead design efforts, and present ideas to executive-level audiences.
• Strong command of prototyping tools and the ability to create high-fidelity prototypes that clearly communicate design intent.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience prototyping emerging technologies such as physical computing, haptics, wearables, or machine learning and AI-driven experiences.
• Background working in a technology research environment.
• Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative user research methods.
• Comfort using tools such as Figma, Unity, or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience leading design work in cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills and good personal organization.
• Ability to use AI tools to improve or redesign workflows and deliver measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
• Understanding of responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk review, bias mitigation, and quality/accuracy checks.
• Ongoing development of AI-related skills such as prompt or context engineering and agent orchestration, along with awareness of emerging AI capabilities.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary range for this role is $139,000 to $199,000 per year. In addition to base pay, the package may include bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
