About The Role

BarnTools is seeking a Product Designer to assume responsibility for product design initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with the Head of Design, with opportunities to lead projects independently shortly after joining. This is a high-ownership position with a rapid learning curve, encompassing all facets of product design for BarnTalk and Barn360, including discovery, user experience flows, visual design, prototyping, and partnering with product and engineering teams through the development lifecycle.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the complete product design lifecycle, from initial research and user flow definition to wireframing, prototyping, high-fidelity UI creation, and developer handoff.
• Take the lead on design projects within the initial months, managing them from problem identification to the delivery of a functional solution.
• Craft intuitive and effective data experiences, including dashboards, alerts, and visualizations that facilitate quick decision-making.
• Expand your responsibilities by engaging in frequent feedback sessions with the Head of Design, tackling increasingly complex and ambiguous challenges.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams to define project scope, refine designs based on production feedback, and ensure the delivery of high-quality user experiences.
• Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the Harvest design system to ensure product consistency and optimize team efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in designing and shipping digital products.
• A compelling portfolio that showcases strong UX thinking and visual design skills, detailing your design process beyond just final mockups.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and drive projects independently, with a proactive approach to work.
• Expert proficiency in Figma, including experience with shared component libraries.
• Excellent communication skills and the self-discipline necessary for effective remote collaboration.
• Proven experience working closely with product managers and engineers.

Strong Candidates Will Have One or More Of

• Experience designing data-intensive products such as dashboards, analytics tools, monitoring systems, or data visualization platforms.
• Experience leading the design for a consumer-facing application available on multiple platforms (mobile or tablet).
• A talent for simplifying complex or technical information into easily understandable and scannable formats.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in an early-stage or fast-paced company environment.
• Foundational skills in user research, including conducting interviews and usability testing.
• Familiarity with the agriculture sector, IoT devices, or software connected to hardware.
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or experience with motion design.
