Role overview
Genuit Group’s Manthorpe Building Products business is hiring a Product Designer to join the Product Development team in Ripley, England. This position offers the chance to help shape innovative construction products used throughout the UK building sector, from early ideas and concept work through to testing, manufacture, and launch.
You will work alongside Development, Sales, and Production colleagues to improve the current product range and help introduce new products to market. The business is focused on delivering high-quality building solutions, encouraging innovation, and supporting a more sustainable built environment.
What you will do
- Study market movements, sector changes, and customer needs to spot opportunities for new products and enhancements.
- Prepare design briefs and technical specifications to guide product development activity.
- Develop concept ideas using sketches, CAD models, and rapid prototyping methods.
- Turn concepts into commercially viable products by choosing appropriate materials and manufacturing methods.
- Produce and maintain technical drawings and engineering records.
- Test prototypes and finished items to confirm they meet required standards and performance expectations.
- Create technical documents, installation instructions, and related support material.
- Offer technical guidance and product knowledge across the wider organisation.
- Support manufacturing improvement work through research, analysis, and practical troubleshooting.
- Work with production, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to help deliver successful products.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives that strengthen quality, efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
About you
The ideal candidate enjoys technical problem-solving, has a strong design mindset, and works well in a team-based environment.
- You should hold a degree or an equivalent qualification in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Design, or a closely related subject.
- Hands-on experience with 3D CAD software is preferred, with Creo Parametric (Pro Engineer) as the ideal package.
- You need a solid understanding of engineering and product development fundamentals.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are important.
- You must be comfortable communicating clearly and collaborating across multiple departments.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite would be a plus.
- You should be well organised and able to juggle several projects and deadlines at once.
- A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in innovation and continuous improvement are essential.
