Job description
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform built for companies. It supports millions of businesses, from large global enterprises to fast-growing startups, in taking payments, expanding revenue, and unlocking new growth opportunities. The company’s purpose is to raise the GDP of the internet, offering a chance to help shape the global economy while doing impactful work.
About the team
The Product Design organization includes multiple groups that define and deliver every user-facing part of Stripe’s products. Product Designers work side by side with Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Marketers as strategic partners across product areas. Together, they turn product direction into polished, testable experiences that are refined through iteration. The goal is to build useful, elegant products that people enjoy using and recommending.
This hiring effort covers a broad range of Product Designer roles across teams such as Connect, Dashboard, Growth, and related areas. Final-stage team matching will help determine the best fit, and candidates may also be evaluated for other organizations depending on experience, location, and interests.
What you will do
In this role, you will work closely with a specific business area and own work end to end. You will partner with other designers to maintain a very high standard of craft and experience quality. The role blends product strategy, development of new and existing features, and the chance to deeply understand different user groups so you can design solutions that help more people start and successfully run businesses on Stripe.
Responsibilities
- Create polished, user-focused designs that improve core product surfaces and strengthen the overall experience.
- Design, prototype, and validate intuitive flows that simplify complex tasks.
- Work with designers, product managers, and engineers to shape long-term direction and short-term execution.
- Produce high-quality interfaces that reflect Stripe’s design standards.
- Regularly present work in design critiques and help foster a strong feedback-driven, iterative culture.
- Partner with UX Research to guide and confirm design choices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant product design experience.
- A portfolio showing strong fundamentals and refined interface craft.
- Proven experience working closely with cross-functional teams to influence product direction.
- Ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and input from multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills for explaining design choices and reasoning across different disciplines.
- Experience working across multiple product areas on ambiguous and complex problems.
- Ability to influence teams and shape product direction effectively.
- Confidence presenting to senior leadership with clear, compelling storytelling.
Hybrid and remote work
This position can be based either in an office or in a remote location that is at least 35 miles (56 kilometers) from a Stripe office. Office-based employees are expected to spend at least 50% of each month in their local office or with users. Remote employees are expected to work primarily from home, though they may occasionally attend team or business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events. Stripe does not pay relocation costs for moves to a remote location. Candidates are encouraged to apply for roles aligned with where they currently live or plan to live.
Pay and benefits
The annual base salary range in the United States for this role is $175,200 to $262,800. For sales roles, the listed range would refer to on-target earnings, but this position is not described as a sales role. The salary band may span multiple career levels and will be narrowed during interviews based on experience, qualifications, and location. Candidates outside the US may request the salary range for their location during the interview process.
Possible additional benefits for this role include equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses, a 401(k) plan, medical coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage, and wellness stipends.
