Team Overview
You will join the Product Design team, which supports UX across Interac’s digital products. The group works collaboratively and stays closely aligned on each other’s work. In this internship, you will partner with design and research leads to help shape, test, and improve future Interac products, while also contributing to UX research efforts.
What You’ll Do
- Assist product designers with day-to-day design work such as prototyping, refining iterations, and taking part in design reviews.
- Build prototypes for presentations, user testing, and product development activities.
- Own assigned design tasks and present your work confidently to stakeholders across different teams.
- Contribute to design work related to e-Transfer.
- Check and improve designs so they meet accessibility expectations.
- Use Figma to deliver design solutions, apply design-thinking methods, support design systems, and work with cross-functional teammates.
What You Bring
- Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada on a full-time basis.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree or certificate program at a recognized Canadian institution, with a focus on Interaction Design, Design, UX/UI, or a related area.
- A strong portfolio showing your direct contributions and the range of your abilities.
Portfolio Expectations
- Strong visual design ability and high proficiency in Figma for creating polished, engaging interfaces.
- Experience with UX research approaches such as usability testing, user interviews, survey design, A/B testing, heuristic reviews, note-taking, and synthesizing insights into design choices.
- Comfort using tools such as FigJam and Jira, and turning business or stakeholder needs into design work in Figma.
- Solid UI skills, from low-fidelity concepts through to pixel-perfect execution, with a clear understanding of current UX/UI best practices.
- Interest in both mobile and desktop experiences, including responsive web design and mobile app design.
- Design-thinking capability, including empathy for users and stakeholders, ideation, prototyping, explanation of design rationale, and openness to iteration.
- Confidence speaking about your design ideas clearly and in detail.
- Good organization and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices.
- Exposure to Figma Make and other AI-powered design tools.
- Experience with motion graphics or microanimations.
- Background working with internal or external developers, project managers, or product owners.
- Previous involvement in UX research, user testing, or A/B testing.
- Experience in Agile teams.
Compensation and Term
The hourly pay for this internship is between $23 and $25. The placement runs from September to December 2026, and the exact rate depends on skills, experience, and job-related knowledge.
