Product Design Engineer

Role summary

This position is for a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on new product development and ongoing product support. The role spans early concept creation, detailed mechanical design, design refinement, and lifecycle sustainment. It emphasizes practical engineering, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and consistent product quality while partnering with local and global teams to deliver solutions that are reliable, production-ready, and aligned with customer and business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop fresh ideas, shape concepts, and prepare detailed mechanical designs for new products and product improvements.
• Carry out hand calculations, tolerance studies, and GD&T stack-up work in line with ASME Y14.5.
• Use solid engineering fundamentals to resolve issues related to design, manufacturing, and product performance.
• Provide CAD-based design assistance in Solid Edge or SolidWorks for new product development and sustaining work.
• Lead efforts to reduce cost and improve quality without compromising product function or compliance.
• Use design-for-manufacturability and assembly methods to simplify production and improve efficiency.
• Raise and process engineering change requests and engineering change notices through PLM tools.
• Assist with prototype assembly, testing, validation, and interpretation of test outcomes.
• Prepare, track, and maintain costed bills of materials in Teamcenter or comparable PLM systems.
• Manage multiple priorities while meeting customer expectations, quality standards, and project schedules.
• Explain technical concepts, design intent, and project status clearly to cross-functional and global partners.

Required qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Prior experience in mechanical design, product development, or sustaining engineering.
• Working familiarity with CAD software, especially Solid Edge; SolidWorks experience is also beneficial.
• Understanding of design considerations for castings, plastics, and/or forgings.
• Knowledge of GD&T concepts and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to present technical ideas effectively in written and spoken English for a global audience.
• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred background

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience working in structured new product development environments using PLM platforms such as Teamcenter.
• Exposure to appliance or consumer product design.
• Experience contributing to improvements in cost, quality, or manufacturability.
