Job description

About the Company

LinkedIn is a global professional network focused on helping people create opportunity, connect with others, grow their skills, and access useful insights. The company also emphasizes employee development and aims to foster a workplace grounded in trust, care, inclusion, and enjoyment.

Role Overview

This Product Counsel position partners with Product and Engineering teams on legal matters tied to the creation and launch of consumer-facing products and features. The work covers areas such as AI, privacy, and consumer protection, and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment. The role may be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City, and the work arrangement is hybrid, with time split between home and a LinkedIn office based on team needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on legal issues connected to new and changing consumer products and features, with attention to AI, privacy, consumer protection, and similar regulatory topics.
  • Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to spot legal risks early and support responsible, efficient product development.
  • Coordinate across Legal & Public Policy and partner with teams such as Product, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, and others.
  • Prepare and review disclosures, terms, agreements, and in-product messaging so members and customers can make informed decisions.
  • Create and maintain documentation of legal guidance, help build playbooks, and contribute to scalable legal workflows.
  • Monitor legal and policy changes affecting social platforms and emerging technologies, then turn those developments into practical guidance.
  • Develop strong relationships across the organization and contribute positively to the team culture.

Qualifications

Candidates should have at least 3 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting, along with a J.D. and admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. Preferred backgrounds include work with technology companies or technology clients, collaboration with Product and Engineering teams, exposure to commercial deals or technology transactions, and familiarity with AI, privacy, consumer protection, payments, and subscription-related regulations. A CIPP certification in Privacy and/or AI is considered an advantage. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach are also important.

Compensation

The stated salary range for this role is $123,000 to $200,000 per year. Final compensation may vary depending on skill set, experience depth, certifications, and work location. The overall package may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other incentive compensation.
