Job description
About the school
The Lauder Beth-Zion community school currently teaches around 122 students from grades 1 to 10. Classes are kept intentionally small, with no more than 15 students per group, so that teaching can be tailored to individual learning needs and each child can be supported and challenged appropriately.
As a Jewish school, the institution carries not only a general educational and developmental mission, but also the important responsibility of helping students build a living Jewish identity.
To meet the academic, social, and values-based expectations of a full-day school setting, students are expected to develop intercultural awareness, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, social skills, the capacity for cross-disciplinary thinking, as well as strong language, communication, and general knowledge foundations.
The role
The school is looking for a committed and open-minded science teacher for the primary level, specifically the middle stage of primary school (grades 5 and 6). The right candidate brings a confident and natural classroom presence, teaches with enthusiasm, and is open to modern teaching approaches.
What the role involves
- Planning and delivering creative, differentiated, and well-structured science lessons
- Being open to new teaching and learning methods, preferably with a Montessori-oriented approach
- Guiding and supporting students in becoming independent learners
- Encouraging and challenging students with different educational backgrounds and learning histories
- Helping students understand that learning paths and learning styles can differ widely
What the school is looking for
The ideal applicant is a passionate educator who can inspire children and young people through teaching. You should be able to lead a class responsibly and with natural authority, work in close exchange with parents, and contribute creative ideas to school life. Team spirit is essential, as regular collaboration with colleagues is part of the role and the school’s shared development.
Working conditions
The position is available immediately or as soon as possible. It is offered as a permanent employment contract in either part-time or full-time format. Compensation is negotiable. In addition, a Deutschlandticket is provided.
The position is initially limited to 12 months, with the intention of converting it into a permanent contract thereafter.
Application note
Applicants are invited to submit a strong application package together with salary expectations.
School information is available on the school's website.
