Role Overview
The Power BI Developer will be responsible for creating impactful dashboards and reports, shaping business requirements into BI solutions, and building robust reporting assets for stakeholders. The role involves working closely with business and technical teams to deliver reliable, performant, and secure analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, roll out, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
- Work with business teams to understand requirements and convert them into practical BI outputs.
- Develop data models, relationships, calculated columns, and measures using DAX.
- Design and fine-tune Power Query workflows and ETL steps.
- Integrate Power BI with sources such as SQL Server, Azure, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud systems.
- Apply row-level security and follow data governance standards.
- Track and improve dashboard performance, refresh timing, and dataset handling.
- Partner with stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to define reporting needs.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to data quality and report performance.
- Prepare documentation for BI solutions, data structures, and reporting guidelines.
- Train end users and provide ongoing support for Power BI dashboards and reports.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Strong command of DAX formulas and calculations
- Working knowledge of Power Query and M language
- Experience with data modeling and star schema design
- Ability to query and work with SQL databases
- Exposure to ETL workflows and data integration
- Understanding of data warehousing principles
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination
