Role overview
TalentWealth Recruiting works with independent wealth management firms across the country to identify and place high-caliber talent. The client for this opportunity is an established independent wealth management firm based in Madison, Wisconsin, with roughly $400 million in client assets. They are looking for an experienced Portfolio Associate to work alongside Wealth Advisors and help deliver investment management support across portfolio management, research, trading, implementation, and reporting.
What you will do
- Record and process all investment securities activity while following the firm’s investment policy requirements.
- Track client-specific, advice-led investment strategies for individuals and families.
- Review client portfolios against each investment policy statement and collaborate with the team to resolve any differences.
- Handle new capital deployment according to Wealth Advisor instructions.
- Maintain liquidity oversight to keep portfolio allocation models within target ranges.
- Carry out daily trading work for both discretionary and non-discretionary accounts while documenting compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal procedures.
- Prepare recurring investment review materials for current clients and recommend, build, monitor, and adjust investment strategies as needed to support client objectives.
- Assist with due diligence tied to the investment portfolio, funding, and liquidity.
- Work closely with the Wealth Advisor on capital investment decisions.
- Provide analysis and data support for key projects involving balance sheet strategy, optimization, allocation, and regulatory policy initiatives.
- Help with client onboarding and prepare the Investment Policy Statement based on the client’s individual circumstances.
- Contribute investment ideas and support the transition of new clients into an ongoing portfolio management and communication process.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations when required.
- Stay actively involved in risk management activities.
What the employer is looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is preferred.
- FINRA Series 7 and 66, or an equivalent combination of Series 65 and 63.
- Solid grasp of core finance concepts and investment theory.
- Ability to build financial models for capital and liquidity measurement, valuation, bond laddering, and related analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with SMartx, Pershing, Morningstar, and eMoney is preferred.
- Ability to search, evaluate, and analyze large data sets, apply complex statistical methods, and produce clear, accurate reports and recommendations.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills are essential.
