About the Role

St. Boniface Hospital is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Porter to join their team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This full-time, onsite position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards across the hospital campus. The role involves performing various cleaning duties, adhering to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) guidelines, and contributing to a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff. The position is part of the Clinical Support stream and operates under the CUPE union.

Responsibilities

  • Execute diverse cleaning tasks and services throughout the hospital campus.
  • Adhere strictly to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Maintain a commitment to the Mission, Values, and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 education.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Capacity to adapt quickly to fast-paced work environments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Physical capability to perform continuous walking, standing, bending, lifting, twisting, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull substantial weights, including climbing ladders or lifts.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of approximately 50 lbs./23 kgs.

Additional Information

This is a term position with an anticipated end date of January 1, 2027, potentially ending earlier based on the collective bargaining agreement. The role requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, obtained within the last six months.
