The role centers on handling a wide range of police and legal documents, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with everyday administrative operations.
What you will do
- Help the public and police staff request, submit, locate, and receive records such as offense and accident reports, Open Records Requests, security clearances, warrants, affidavits, and protective orders.
- Scan paper files into electronic storage systems and keep digital records organized.
- Prepare daily cash reports and make deposits as required.
- Draft, proofread, and revise detailed police reports and other legal paperwork.
- Answer incoming calls and route them to the correct person or department.
- Handle routine office duties and support general administrative work.
- Coordinate class sessions, meetings, and group gatherings when needed.
- Arrange meeting rooms and ensure they are ready for scheduled events.
Requirements and conditions
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least six months of general clerical experience. Prior municipal work experience is considered helpful, and bilingual English/Spanish ability is an added advantage. The position may involve evenings and weekends, and some work schedules will require mandatory evening hours.
Because the job involves access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) data, selected candidates must complete a detailed background review. A polygraph examination and criminal history check are also required. Applicants must not have any conviction above a Class B misdemeanor, or any Class B misdemeanor conviction within the last 10 years; other convictions may also be reviewed during the selection process.
Applicants are asked to provide their available working hours with the application. Attaching a résumé is preferred.
