Job description
Role overview
We are seeking a Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join the team at Mater Private Cork on a permanent, full-time basis. The role will support a developing physiotherapy service within a busy hospital setting and will involve close collaboration with an expanding group of physiotherapists.
The postholder will work as part of the Physiotherapy Department and alongside the wider multidisciplinary hospital team, contributing clinical expertise across orthopaedics, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal outpatient care, respiratory care for both surgical and medical patients, and the care of older adults.
Key duties
- Apply sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice in carrying out all aspects of the role.
- Partner with the Physiotherapy Manager and team members to deliver a high-quality, patient-focused physiotherapy service.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assess patients, then design and implement personalised treatment plans aligned with best-practice standards.
- Plan and deliver care in a way that is effective, practical, and efficient while keeping the patient at the centre.
- Maintain a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Practise within the limits of professional competence, adhering to accepted standards of practice, conduct, and clinical governance.
- Work within the professional scope defined by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists or the relevant governing body.
Candidate profile
Applicants should hold a BSc in Physiotherapy, or an equivalent qualification. CORU registration is required, and candidates must be a member of, or eligible to join, the Irish Society of Physiotherapists (ISCP).
A minimum of 1 year of post-graduate experience in physiotherapy is essential, specifically in orthopaedics (inpatient). Experience in orthopaedic/MSK outpatient care, respiratory care (surgical and medical), and care of the aging patient will be considered an advantage.
