About the Opportunity
Fortescue is seeking a Permit Officer for its Eliwana mine operations, located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people in Western Australia. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment by managing all isolation, tagging, and permit requirements for the process plant during routine operations and shutdowns. The position operates on an 8D/6R or 7N/7R roster, with FIFO from Perth. While training will be provided for isolations and permit issuing, a strong foundation in mining and a keen eye for detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of work areas to verify the correct implementation and functionality of isolations.
- Develop and execute necessary permits and isolation plans for both breakdowns and scheduled shutdowns.
- Perform audits on existing permits and isolation procedures.
- Maintain and update the permit-to-work database.
- Assist in the preparation, planning, and execution of all permitting and isolation strategies before work commences.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Previous mining experience in a FIFO capacity.
- Essential: A valid Western Australian full driver's license.
- Essential: High level of attention to detail.
- Essential: Proficiency in using various computer systems (training will be provided).
- Essential: Proven ability in stakeholder management and engagement.
- Preferred: A current Western Australian electrical license or a mechanical fitter trade qualification.
- Preferred: Prior experience with permitting and isolation processes.
- Preferred: Ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and electrical drawings.

Additional Information
This role is based in Eliwana, Western Australia. The roster options are 8 days on, 6 days off, or 7 nights on, 7 days off, with FIFO from Perth. Fortescue will never request payment for job applications. Applications may be closed early if a suitable candidate pool is identified.
