Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic People Partner to provide strategic and delivery-focused support to our people leaders. This role is crucial in reinforcing our company culture and shaping key people decisions, priorities, and performance initiatives. You will be an integral part of Tails.com, a rapidly growing dog food subscription company backed by Purina, dedicated to changing the world of pet food.

At Tails.com, we foster a strong sense of community, referred to as 'Pack life,' where employees feel connected, supported, and empowered to perform at their best. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated team to drive positive impacts for both our employees and the business.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to people leaders by deeply understanding business areas and providing hands-on support and expert guidance for effective team management and development.
  • Champion an excellent employee experience, assist in navigating organizational changes, and ensure the consistent strength of our company culture.
  • Contribute to people-centric decision-making, ensuring alignment with business performance and company values.
  • Lead critical People projects and manage key employee lifecycle stages, including talent and compensation reviews, and process enhancements, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Utilize data and metrics, such as compensation analysis and headcount planning with Finance, to inform strategic decisions, maintain compliance, and ensure good governance.

Requirements

  • Possess a strong background in generalist HR or People Partnering roles within organizations of similar size and structure, with experience collaborating with Commercial, Corporate, and Tech teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust, conduct honest and productive conversations, and partner effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Exhibit natural problem-solving abilities, enjoy coaching managers, and be willing to challenge the status quo to uphold company culture and performance.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of employment law and HR best practices, including talent management and reward strategies, with practical experience in managing lifecycle processes like compensation reviews.
  • Handle complex situations with a combination of common sense, empathy, and a firm grasp of formal processes when necessary.
  • Proficient in using data to drive informed decision-making.
  • Proactively contribute to the collective success of the People team through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and supporting colleagues to meet business and employee needs.
  • Be adept at identifying opportunities for process improvement, possess strong technical aptitude (including spreadsheet proficiency), and be skilled in using HR tools for enhanced team efficiency.

Perks

  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Flexible core working hours to promote work-life balance.
  • Hybrid working arrangement for optimal flexibility.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days, increasing with tenure up to a maximum of 27 days (excluding bank holidays).
  • A 9/10 day working week, enhancing well-being without impacting pay or leave allowances.
  • Option for 5 days of unpaid leave and 1 paid volunteer day annually.
  • Opportunity to work remotely from abroad for two weeks every six months.
  • Company-provided health insurance.
  • Extended parental leave benefits, including 6 months at 70% pay for maternity, paternity, shared parental, and adoption leave.
  • Flexible paid care leave to support dependents, close relations, and pets.
  • Access to continuous professional development through an in-house Learning & Development team offering year-round courses.
  • A 50% discount on all Tails.com products.
  • Discounted gym membership.

Eligibility

Candidates with a solid background in generalist HR/People Partnering roles, comfortable working with diverse teams (Commercial, Corporate, Tech), and possessing strong communication, problem-solving, and data analysis skills are encouraged to apply. Experience with employment law, talent management, reward strategies, and employee lifecycle processes is essential. We particularly encourage applications from individuals from under-represented demographic groups.
