Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for handling a wide mix of payroll and HR administration tasks that support efficiency, compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations. The role focuses on biweekly payroll, HR and payroll reporting, governance, employee records, and related administrative support.
Essential Duties
- Help prepare, document, distribute, and reconcile payroll on a biweekly cycle.
- Handle questions about paychecks and payroll reports, and make sure any issues are escalated and closed quickly.
- Assist with required tax submissions, state setup activities, and payroll audit requests.
- Create supporting reports and metrics such as labor summaries, federal and state reporting, and other internal requests.
- Support audits across the employee lifecycle to help ensure payroll and timekeeping records follow company policy and state and federal rules.
- Keep employee information current and accurate in the HR database.
- Work with HR colleagues to keep processes aligned across different locations.
- Help communicate company policies and programs while supporting labor law and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with HR operations and contribute to process improvements through technology.
- Provide general support for employee questions and concerns.
- Take on additional tasks and projects as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- At least 1 year of corporate experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, is needed.
- Strong accuracy and organization are essential.
- The candidate should be comfortable learning and troubleshooting new software quickly.
- Advanced Excel ability is required, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP without help.
- High confidentiality and professional judgment are expected when handling sensitive information.
- Good interpersonal skills, time management, and organizational discipline are necessary.
- Strong customer service skills are required.
- Prior experience in HR and payroll is preferred.
- Experience with HRM systems, especially Workday, is preferred.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in Gardena, California, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote each week.
Compensation
The pay range for this role is USD 28.00 to USD 36.00 per hour.
