With over 11,000 products available across more than 900 stores and robust digital services, Screwfix is a leading provider in its sector. We are looking for individuals who are experts in their field and ready to contribute to our mission of delivering services quickly, affordably, and with a positive attitude.

Role Overview

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for our Trade Counters, Head Office, and Contact Centre operations. You will serve as the main point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries, providing expert guidance to employees and managers. This role also involves contributing subject matter expertise to business projects, assisting with audits, managing pension processes, and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with our Smart Working principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the payroll shared inbox, ensuring all queries are addressed within service level agreements.
  • Process comprehensive payroll functions, including new starters, leavers, changes to employee details, tax code updates, statutory payments, and adjustments for loans and other deductions.
  • Administer and maintain records for court orders, share schemes (SIP & Sharesave), childcare vouchers, and pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and opt-out processes.
  • Oversee and reconcile the transfer of pension data to the designated Pension Administrator.
  • Provide guidance to managers on best practices for time management systems (SAP Time) and ensure adherence to internal controls and financial reporting standards.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes in line with Screwfix's Smart Working objectives.
  • For Irish and Isle of Man payrolls, extract data from the Rotageek workforce management system for processing by our external payroll provider.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in Payroll Services, with a strong understanding of statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, PAYE, and NI.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external bodies like HMRC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with intermediate-level skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP HR systems is considered an advantage.
