Job description
Role Overview
Simard Automotive is looking for a part-time recruiter to support its hiring efforts for the automotive sector. The company is expanding and needs someone who can identify, evaluate, and secure high-caliber talent for key roles across Alaska and beyond.
This position is built for a recruiter who understands the automotive world, works comfortably in a remote setup, and knows how to use structured hiring methods to improve candidate quality and long-term fit. The focus is on strengthening the internal hiring process, not operating as an external recruiting agency.
About the Company
Simard Automotive is recognized as Alaska's leading independent automotive repair group. The organization is growing quickly and is focused on adding elite technicians, service advisors, and managers. Its culture is centered on putting people first, practicing servant leadership, developing teams, and delivering strong operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
The recruiter will be responsible for sourcing and screening candidates, conducting interviews, and using Topgrading-style methods to spot top performers. The role also includes assessing both technical capability and cultural alignment, while keeping applicant tracking information organized and up to date. Experience with Applicant Pro is preferred.
In addition to candidate evaluation, the recruiter will work with leadership to sharpen scorecards, update job descriptions, improve interview approaches, and raise hiring success rates. The position also involves promoting the company’s mission, values, and culture to potential candidates and helping them see the value of relocating to Alaska.
The role will concentrate on hard-to-fill positions such as A-Level Technicians, Service Advisors, and Managers. It also includes coordinating with HR on sourcing, interview flow, pipeline updates, and reporting hiring metrics to leadership.
Required Background
The ideal candidate brings strong Topgrading knowledge, either through certification or substantial hands-on experience with structured interviewing. Prior recruiting experience in the automotive industry is essential. The person should also have a process-improvement mindset, be comfortable working with ATS tools, and be able to communicate persuasively while managing recruitment independently.
Working Style and Fit
This opportunity is designed for an individual contributor, not a recruiting agency. The company is looking for someone proactive, collaborative, and able to actively engage candidates while continuously improving hiring processes over time.
What’s Offered
The role offers flexible remote work with an estimated commitment of 10 to 15 hours, allowing the recruiter to set their own schedule. It also provides the chance to work with a growing company that values excellence in hiring and team development, along with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on building a strong team.
Not a Fit For
This position is not intended for recruiting agencies, generalist recruiters, or passive recruiters. It requires deep knowledge of the automotive space and an active, hands-on approach to talent engagement and process refinement.
