Job description
About the role
Hamilton City Council is looking for part-time lifeguards to support the safe enjoyment of Hamilton Pools. The role is part of the Council’s Community Group, which also includes services such as Hamilton Pool, Parks and Recreation, Hamilton City Libraries, and the city’s three main visitor attractions. The wider purpose of the group is to help make Hamilton a city that is attractive, enjoyable, well connected, and aligned with community needs.
What you will do
As a lifeguard, you will help keep pool users safe, encourage safe behaviour in the water, and support a positive experience for everyone visiting the pools. The work also includes some basic cleaning and prevention-focused education.
This position suits people from many different backgrounds. If you are a strong swimmer and enjoy interacting with people, full training will be provided. No previous lifeguarding background is required for the right person.
Training and qualifications
Successful candidates without prior lifeguarding experience or qualifications may be able to start as self-starters and complete a fully paid Practicing Lifeguard Certification. The qualifications gained through the role include:
- First Aid Level 2 Certificate
- Pool Life Saving Practicing Certificate (PLPC)
Pay
The hourly rate for this role is $28.95.
