Job description
About the role
Bruntwood is a UK commercial property specialist focused on creating lively places where businesses can thrive. The organisation owns, develops, manages and maintains office, coworking, retail and lab spaces across England, with a strong emphasis on building vibrant communities and supporting growth.
This position is based at the Circle Square buildings in Manchester city centre. The working pattern is Tuesday to Thursday, totalling 24 hours per week.
Role overview
The Host / Receptionist will act as the welcoming face of the building and the main contact for customers, tenants and visitors. The ideal person will enjoy interacting with people, creating strong relationships and delivering a consistently positive experience. People from hospitality, retail and cabin crew backgrounds are especially encouraged, as those environments tend to build the right customer-facing instincts.
What you'll do
- Provide a warm, high-quality experience for everyone using the building.
- Develop and maintain professional, long-term relationships with customers.
- Serve as the first contact point for visitors and customers.
- Help coordinate events and meetings held within the building.
- Support customer viewings as part of the wider sales process.
- Look after meeting rooms, co-working areas, lounges and shared spaces, keeping them presentable and supporting food and beverage service where needed.
- Balance desk-based administration with customer interaction and relationship building.
- Gather customer insight and keep internal systems updated to support sales and retention.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and other Bruntwood teams.
- Act as a positive example for wellbeing in the workplace.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by finding simple, efficient ways to add value and save time for customers.
- Bring energy, initiative and a practical, team-focused approach to help colleagues and customers get the right service every time.
Candidate profile
Bruntwood is looking for someone with a strong service mindset, a proactive attitude and the confidence to handle a busy, evolving environment. This role suits someone who is naturally curious, attentive to detail and motivated to go beyond expectations for customers.
Benefits
- Friendly, experienced and supportive team environment.
- Chance to influence the company’s growth and direction.
- An engaging role with variety, challenge and new experiences.
- Opportunities to progress within a growing business.
- 28 days of annual leave, plus your birthday off, with the option to buy and sell holiday.
- 24 hours of volunteering time each year.
- Eligibility for a sabbatical of up to 12 months after five years of service.
- Healthcare cash plan covering expenses such as optical, dental and physiotherapy, plus private healthcare available on an opt-in basis.
- Life assurance for all colleagues.
- Matched pension contributions up to 8%.
- Retail discounts and cashback offers.
- Enhanced maternity and shared parental leave, with 26 weeks fully paid.
- Interest-free learning loans to support further development.
Additional information
Bruntwood’s work is linked to its broader mission of creating thriving cities, and the business also supports charitable causes through the Oglesby Charitable Trust, which has donated more than £25 million since 2001 across arts and culture, education, the environment, medical research and social and health inequality.
The company is committed to inclusive hiring and encourages applications from people with diverse backgrounds. Adjustments can be discussed for interview candidates where needed.
Applicants can expect a response within about a week. If that time passes without an update, the company has provided a recruitment contact email for follow-up. Successful candidates will take part in a single-stage interview, including the opportunity to see the role in action and ask questions.
The role is in a fast-paced, dynamic and developing organisation, and strong administration experience is essential because the inbox of enquiries will be managed daily.
