Job description

Role overview

Ainnocence is looking for a part-time biological scientist to support its AI-led work in drug discovery and biotechnology research. The position is centered on generating biological ideas, reviewing scientific literature, developing hypotheses, helping with AI training, and contributing to research publications, rather than carrying out day-to-day lab work.

You will work with biologists, AI researchers, and drug discovery specialists in a remote or hybrid setup. The goal is to bring strong life science judgment into the AI workflow so that model outputs, research directions, and validation efforts remain scientifically credible and useful for therapeutic discovery.

What you will do

  • Develop and assess new biological research concepts and therapeutic hypotheses.
  • Read and synthesize scientific papers to support research initiatives and AI model development.
  • Contribute biological subject-matter expertise for AI training, validation, and data annotation tasks.
  • Support the design of research approaches and help interpret scientific results.
  • Assist with manuscripts, technical reports, patents, white papers, and conference-ready materials.
  • Work alongside AI and drug discovery teams to strengthen biological relevance and scientific quality.
  • Keep track of new developments and important advances in biotechnology, drug discovery, and life sciences.

Required background

  • Solid training in biology, biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a similar life science area.
  • Hands-on experience with literature review and with turning complex biological information into clear summaries.
  • Capability to form research hypotheses, spot promising scientific directions, and judge biological feasibility.
  • Genuine interest in AI, computational biology, drug discovery, or other data-driven scientific work.
  • Exposure to scientific writing, manuscript development, grant-related writing, patent support, or technical publications.
  • Comfort with interpreting biological data, tagging information, and extracting knowledge from scientific sources.
  • Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams in remote or hybrid settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline; advanced study is preferred.
  • Previous exposure to AI-supported research, bioinformatics, computational biology, or machine learning in the life sciences is an added advantage.

Additional information

This is a part-time role, but the listing indicates a full-time employment type with remote work. The role is based in San Francisco, CA, and can be performed remotely or in a hybrid arrangement. No salary, stipend, start date, duration, or number of openings was specified.
