Position Summary
This dual-role opportunity combines responsibilities for overnight kitchen sanitation and van driving, aimed at those keen to start or grow a career in the Food & Beverage sector. It provides a reasonable work-life balance with the benefits of living in Banff.
Compensation and Employment Details
The initial pay rate is $21.20 per hour, with incremental pay increases after six months, annually, and up to three years, at which point the hourly wage reaches $25.61. Both seasonal and potential full-time positions are available and will be discussed during the interview process.
Primary Duties
- Conduct thorough overnight deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and surfaces, including ovens, grills, fryers, hoods, walls, ceilings, vents, and other difficult-to-access areas.
- Maintain sanitation by cleaning workspaces, such as prep tables, sinks, stainless steel surfaces, and floors (including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and buffing).
- Ensure safety by keeping floors clean and dry, managing garbage, oil, and recycling removal, and promptly addressing any safety hazards.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment levels, replenish stocks as needed, and report any maintenance issues.
- Perform other deep cleaning tasks and assigned duties to uphold kitchen cleanliness and operation standards.
- Drive and deliver food, beverages, equipment, and supplies safely between various hotel venues and off-site facilities, including the Waldhaus, Clubhouse, Bowling Centre, Convention Centre, Exshaw, and Banff dump sites.
- Assist departments with special deliveries and large-item transports while ensuring clear communication and prompt service.
- Maintain delivery vehicles and loading zones by conducting daily inspections, reporting any damages or concerns, and keeping these areas clean and organized.
- Handle waste and recycling through collection, sorting, and disposal according to hotel and local regulations.
- Uphold a safe and professional work environment by following company standards regarding grooming, hygiene, food safety, and cultural practices, while actively participating in health and safety programs.
Qualifications
- Capability to operate industrial cleaning and waste management machinery safely.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license with confidence driving a 3-ton truck, including navigating tight loading bays.
- Provision of a current driver's abstract prior to starting the position.
- Certification in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- A strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety in the workplace.
- Ability to show initiative and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent skills in time management and prioritizing tasks, especially in a dynamic environment.
