YR Gaitonde Medical Educational & Research Foundation (YRGMERF) is hiring an Outreach Worker for field-based work in Ramagundam and Jagityal, Telangana. This role focuses on planning and coordinating outreach services, strengthening behaviour-change and service-uptake efforts, supporting peer educators, and ensuring smooth delivery of community-level interventions.

What the Role Involves
- Create and manage micro-plans for each hotspot, track how they are implemented, and review them regularly.
- Build the capability of peer educators so they can carry out outreach activities according to project standards.
- Keep micro-plans and line listings updated every quarter, and share them with the project team; for migrant and trucker sites, complete micro-plans and site assessments each quarter.
- Prepare monthly action plans for hotspots and make sure enough needles, syringes, condoms, lubricants, and behaviour-change communication materials are available.
- Review low-uptake hotspots with the counsellor each month and update follow-up plans based on due and overdue cases.
- Work with community members and other stakeholders to strengthen field support and ensure smooth execution of the programme.
- Identify suitable volunteers and, where relevant, brokers for migrants and truckers; eligible volunteers may later be considered as peer educators under the required guidelines.
- Provide supportive supervision for peer educators, counselling support, and service linkages as the lead for outreach activities.
- Complete at least 20 field visit days each month in assigned areas and at referral points such as preferred providers and ICTCS/FICTCS centres.
- Prepare micro-plans, risk and vulnerability assessments, and stakeholder analysis together with peer educators and the Project Manager/MEA officer.
- Ensure weekly peer diaries are maintained and collect monthly reports from peer educators for submission to the project office.
- Support crisis-response work when required.
- Ensure every new contact identified by peer educators is followed up and covered.
- For female outreach workers, give additional attention to FIDU and FRSP referrals and service delivery.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and bring relevant community power structures into programme support and participation.
- Identify and use preferred providers for project services after they have been trained by SACS, DAPCU, or TSU.
- Assess demand for condoms, needles, syringes, and lubricants, and ensure distribution through peers or social marketing outlets.
- Maintain proper records of commodities received and issued, including free condoms, needles, syringes, and lubricants.
- Help identify and manage condom social marketing outlets in line with programme guidance.
- Oversee IEC material availability for outreach sessions.
- Prepare clinic sites and health camp locations by mobilising the community for health check-ups and HIV testing and counselling.
- Provide reports and data inputs to the Project Manager and support preparation of project documentation.
- Maintain referral registers, follow-up registers, referral card reconciliation, patient records where needed, stock and issue registers for commodities, disposal records for used needles and syringes, medicine registers if applicable, outlet lists, and other required records.
Requirements
- Minimum education level: 8th standard.
- Strong familiarity with the local community and the local language.
- Preference may be given to candidates from the relevant target community for projects involving FSW, MSM, TG, migrants, and truckers.
- Peer educators from the community who have performed well for at least the last 3 years and can read and write may also be considered.
- Good communication skills are essential.
- Comfortable working in small teams and adapting to flexible ways of working.
- Ability to analyse data, write reports, and compile case studies.
- Willingness to spend at least 20 days each month in the field.
