Job description
Company Overview
Shark Smile is a digital orthodontic solutions provider focused on clear aligner treatment planning, digital smile design, and improving orthodontic workflows. The company works with dental professionals and aligner businesses across the world to deliver practical, innovative, and cost-effective support. With an experienced design team, Shark Smile emphasizes accuracy, fast turnaround, and dependable communication to help practitioners achieve confident smiles through strong collaboration.
Role Summary
This is a full-time Orthodontic Consultant position that can operate in a remote or hybrid setup. The role acts as the clinical lead for digital treatment-planning processes. The consultant will assess, refine, and sign off on clear aligner staging plans, ensure orthodontic biomechanics are appropriate, and support digital design teams. The position is centered on clinical review, quality control, advanced case analysis, and coordination with international dental practitioners rather than direct hands-on dental treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine digital clear aligner cases and improve treatment setups so they are clinically predictable and well-structured.
- Apply advanced orthodontic knowledge to staging decisions, tracking, attachment planning, and IPR timing.
- Work closely with digital smile designers and help strengthen the clinical accuracy of their CAD work.
- Offer expert clinical consultation and case support to dental professionals around the world.
- Maintain high quality standards so all digital designs align with international orthodontic practices and ethical requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should hold an MDS or MOrth in Orthodontics, or another equivalent postgraduate orthodontic qualification or diploma. Candidates with a DDS/DMD background and strong, proven expertise in clear aligner treatment planning may also be considered. An active dental or specialist registration in the country of practice is required. Applicants should bring solid command of clear aligner biomechanics, force mechanics, and the limits of staging. Experience of 2 to 3 years in digital orthodontic treatment planning or aligner manufacturing workflows is expected.
Technical and Communication Requirements
Applicants should be comfortable using digital orthodontic and aligner CAD tools such as Archfrom, Softsmile, 3Shape, Blue Sky Plan, Maestro 3D, or comparable software. Strong spoken and written English is important for advising international clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Notes
This position is not intended for chairside clinical dentistry. The work is focused on digital planning oversight, case review, and consulting support.
