Job description
About Murmuration
Murmuration is built on the idea that communities help shape the future of the United States through their ideas, values, and collective action. The organization supports partners by connecting them with aligned networks, offering data-backed insights, creating practical organizing tools, and providing services that help them lead change more effectively.
The broader mission is to help create an America where every community has the resources needed for people to live healthy, free, and dignified lives. Murmuration works to improve the systems people rely on, making them fairer, more resilient, and more responsive to shared responsibility. Its team is made up of organizers, scientists, educators, technologists, campaign experts, and others who work collaboratively and support one another closely.
About the Role
Murmuration is hiring an Organizing Strategist to join the Campaigns Team and report to the Senior Organizing Strategy Director. This person will work directly with partner organizations to help them plan and execute effective campaigns. The role is suited to someone with several years of experience in organizing and/or civic engagement who is ready to apply that background across a nationwide network of values-driven partners.
In day-to-day work, the strategist will partner with internal teams and external organizations to advance voter participation and advocacy efforts. Responsibilities include managing partner relationships, facilitating trainings, helping partners use organizing systems and data tools well, and ensuring that research and field insights inform campaign execution. The ideal candidate is hands-on in practice, but also able to think strategically and support long-term infrastructure building for partners.
Success in this position is measured by partner outcomes. Murmuration is looking for someone who enjoys helping others grow, gives credit generously, and values shared wins.
Job Level: P3
Key Responsibilities
- Guide partner organizations as they plan and carry out voter participation and advocacy campaigns, including organizing, community, and elected engagement efforts.
- Help create and deliver trainings, support materials, and practical guidance for partner teams on campaign planning, organizing methods, and campaign tool usage.
- Assist partners in developing and maintaining strong organizing infrastructure, such as outreach systems, follow-up processes, event coordination, and volunteer or supporter engagement workflows.
- Turn insights from internal and external research, along with impact studies, into clear recommendations that strengthen partner strategy, tactics, and execution.
- Work with campaign vendors and cross-functional internal teams to ensure partners receive coordinated and timely support.
- Contribute to in-person and virtual convenings, trainings, and other partner-facing events.
- Monitor campaign progress, identify risks and opportunities, and support completion of key deliverables across multiple partner relationships.
- Capture partner needs, implementation learnings, and field feedback so Murmuration can improve its organizing practice and support model.
Requirements
- 4 to 7 years of experience in organizing, advocacy, electoral, civic engagement, or campaign-related work.
- Proven experience helping campaigns or community-based programs move from planning into execution.
- Strong project management ability, including managing several workstreams at once while keeping partners and internal stakeholders aligned.
- Direct experience working with external partners, clients, coalitions, or community-based organizations in a relationship-management or support role.
- Experience leading trainings or support sessions for people with different levels of experience.
- Comfort with organizing tools, voter file systems, canvassing apps, or similar campaign technology, along with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
- Understanding of data-informed campaign strategy and how research can improve voter engagement and organizing tactics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex information for practitioners.
- Strong judgment, consistent follow-through, and comfort in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
- Commitment to civic engagement, equity, and community-centered work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background supporting nonprofit, advocacy, or political clients through a consulting, intermediary, or partner-support organization.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, consultants, or internal cross-functional teams.
- Experience planning events or managing partner convenings.
- Comfort working across both issue advocacy and electoral programs within the same engagement.
- Experience using Organizer by Murmuration or a similar organizing and voter data platform.
