About the Team

The Consumer Products team at OpenAI is focused on turning advanced AI capabilities into tangible hardware products. The Operations group supports that mission by coordinating supply chain planning, manufacturing execution, and quality systems so products can move smoothly from early ideas to launch-ready devices and beyond. The team works closely with engineering, design, and manufacturing partners across multiple regions to help deliver high-quality products at scale.

About the Role

This role is for an Operations Manager who will lead the planning and execution needed to bring consumer hardware from concept to large-scale production. You will guide cross-functional coordination, manage supplier relationships, and keep supply, cost, and schedule goals aligned across fast-moving programs.

The position is based in Singapore and follows a hybrid work setup with four days in the office each week. Relocation support is available for new hires. Some travel to supplier and manufacturing locations will be required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and run operations plans that connect product design with high-volume manufacturing.
• Own build-readiness and production planning across the full lifecycle, from prototype stages to mass production.
• Work with global suppliers to make sure materials, tooling, and manufacturing capacity are in place to meet program needs.
• Partner with hardware, quality, and supply chain teams to set up and sustain effective operating systems.
• Monitor cost, yield, and schedule metrics to keep delivery efficient, predictable, and on track.
• Design processes that can scale and support rapid iteration for future product launches.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in hardware operations, manufacturing, or supply chain roles, ideally within consumer electronics or a similar field.
• Proven experience taking at least one product from concept all the way through mass production.
• Strong working knowledge of new product introduction processes, contract manufacturing, and global operations management.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities, with the confidence to work through ambiguity and align multiple stakeholders.
• A genuine interest in building new operating systems and working at the intersection of design, engineering, and execution.
• A focus on precision, teamwork, and speed, along with enthusiasm for helping bring consumer products to market at scale.
