Job description

Project overview

Work with a community of professionals contributing to the next generation of AI by reviewing data and offering expert feedback that helps improve large language model performance, accuracy, and reliability.

This opportunity is for an experienced Operations Manager to serve as a project consultant in an AI labor marketplace. It is a contract engagement rather than a permanent role.

Location: United States only
Engagement: Part-time, project-based expert evaluation work
Work arrangement: Remote

Project summary

The assignment supports an AI benchmarking framework built to assess how well AI systems handle practical, economically valuable knowledge work. The benchmark compares models against tasks typically carried out by operations leaders who oversee business processes, operational performance, resource allocation, workforce planning, process improvement, and cross-functional delivery.

Contributors will produce expert benchmark outputs, establish evaluation standards, and review AI-generated work products across a broad set of operational situations. Examples include process analysis, operational planning, performance management, workforce optimization, SOP creation, KPI design, root cause analysis, operational risk review, change management planning, vendor management, service delivery optimization, and business operations decision-making. The objective is to create rigorous, expert-led standards for evaluating AI on real operational workflows and management responsibilities.

Consultant engagement terms

This is a project-based consultant engagement. Payment is made per project, and the listed hourly rate is only an estimate based on expected completion time. Consultants set their own schedules, use their own tools, and may work with other vendors or employers if those arrangements allow it.

Responsibilities

  • Develop expert benchmark answers for operations and business process management scenarios.
  • Create scoring rubrics that clearly define high-quality standards for analysis, planning, execution, and operational decision-making.
  • Review AI-generated recommendations, reports, analyses, and other operational deliverables against the benchmark criteria.
  • Judge outputs for accuracy, completeness, practicality, scalability, and business impact.
  • Evaluate AI work related to process improvement, operational strategy, workforce management, service delivery, performance measurement, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Spot weak assumptions, operational risks, process inefficiencies, unsupported recommendations, and important missing details.
  • Use professional judgment to decide whether outputs satisfy real-world operational expectations and business needs.
  • Write clear rationale to support scoring decisions and evaluation results.
  • Take part in calibration sessions and quality review activities when needed.

Expected outcomes

  • Benchmark responses that reflect strong operations leadership and sound business management practices.
  • Well-defined evaluation rubrics aligned with actual operational workflows and organizational goals.
  • Reliable and consistent assessment of AI-generated operational work products.
  • Clear identification of strengths, gaps, risks, and weaknesses in model outputs.
  • Expert reviews that help benchmark AI systems on valuable operational work.
  • Documentation that supports repeatable and scalable model evaluation.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in operations management, business operations, operational excellence, process improvement, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of operational workflows, performance management, process optimization, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
  • Experience leading teams, operational processes, budgets, service delivery functions, or business performance initiatives.
  • Background in creating, reviewing, or assessing operational plans, SOPs, business processes, performance dashboards, KPI frameworks, or operational reports.
  • Ability to analyze complex business situations and explain operational reasoning clearly in writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify inefficiencies, execution risks, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in corporate operations, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare operations, technology operations, retail operations, professional services, or a similar environment is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are preferred where applicable, such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, PMP, Certified Manager (CM), APICS/ASCM certifications, Prosci Change Management, or similar credentials.
  • Must be based in the United States.
