Job description

Role purpose

This position is responsible for carrying out quality control inspections before and during the blending, cooking, bottling, filling, packaging, and dispatch activities for lubricants, greases, and LPG cylinders. The aim is to make sure that all quality control procedures are followed properly by plant teams, and that raw materials, finished goods, and cylinders meet the required standards before they are stored, issued, or delivered.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the execution of quality control checks for finished products, raw materials, and feedstock in line with approved QC standards and procedures.
  • Carry out in-process inspections for lube and grease products to help maintain product quality and support production adjustments where needed.
  • Check incoming packaging materials to confirm they meet required specifications before being stored or sent to production lines.
  • Perform quality inspections during blending and filling of lubricants, greases, brake fluids, coolants, and related products, ensuring correct packaging, weight, grade details, batch numbers, and filling dates are applied.
  • Review and approve packaging test results at different production stages, using QC methods and product specifications to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Inspect export dispatches at random, including trucks and containers, to verify the quality of drums, cartons, and pails in lubricant stores at Mussafah and Sas Al Nakhl.
  • Prepare lubricant samples and related packaging materials, including cans, pails, and artwork, according to dispatch or supplier requirements.
  • Conduct daily checks of finished goods and stock of drums, cartons, and pails to identify leaks, damage, or other defects, and escalate findings for corrective action.
  • Ensure proper quality procedures are followed during decanting and repackaging operations.
  • Inspect incoming LPG cylinders, pallets, valves, and other supplied parts to confirm compliance with required specifications before use or storage.
  • Oversee LPG cylinder filling operations and verify that the correct quantity of product is filled.
  • Identify faulty cylinders and ensure they are repaired or removed from service as appropriate.
  • Perform daily checks on filled cylinders and stock of cylinders, valves, and regulators to detect defects or damage, and report issues for corrective action.
  • Ensure quality procedures are followed during LPG receiving, filling, and dispatch activities.
  • Check and confirm calibration of weighing machines used in the Lube and Grease Plant and LPG Plant at the required intervals.

Reporting, documentation, and improvement

  • Prepare and submit daily inspection reports for filling operations, highlighting quality concerns and recommending improvements to QC controls and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation such as manuals, procedures, work instructions, and forms in line with ISO requirements.
  • Coordinate the ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality assurance system within the section and keep documentation current.
  • Suggest process improvements to strengthen the effectiveness of filling and packaging quality controls.
  • Apply quality control policies and procedures consistently across operations.
  • Study quality data, interpret findings, and recommend corrective or preventive improvements.
  • Support employee training on quality control procedures.
  • Assist in resolving customer or client quality concerns.
  • Plan and maintain internal audits.
  • Carry out other related duties assigned by the Senior Q.C Officer or Department Manager.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Science, Chemistry, or an equivalent discipline. The role also requires at least 4 years of experience in a similar position within the oil and gas industry, along with familiarity with ISO regulatory requirements.
