Job description
Role overview
Village Hotel Club is built around a lively, modern hospitality style rather than a formal hotel atmosphere. The business focuses on giving guests a place to work, eat, unwind, play, and exercise, and it operates hotels and leisure clubs across the UK with more locations on the way. The Night Porter is an important part of the overnight team, helping ensure guests continue to receive strong service throughout the night.
What the role involves
In this varied position, you will support the hotel at night by staying alert, solving issues quickly, and helping different departments as needed. The work spans the guest journey from check-in to room service preparation and bar service, so flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential.
Key accountabilities
- Deliver high-quality customer service during overnight hours.
- Work closely with the night team to keep operations running smoothly.
- Respond to guest problems quickly and in a positive, practical way.
- Use your own judgment to handle tasks and situations independently.
- Support multiple departments across the hotel when needed.
- Assist with guest check-ins and other points in the overnight customer journey.
- Help prepare room service orders and serve behind the bar when required.
- Build effective working relationships across all hotel departments.
What the employer offers
- Complimentary Health and Wellness Membership at your home club for you and one family member or friend, valued at £1,500 per year.
- Discounted overnight stays at Village Hotels, with rooms available from £35 when accompanied by a friend, including breakfast.
- Friends-and-family rates from £49 including breakfast.
- 50% off food and drink bought on or off shift at any Village Hotel Pub & Grill.
- 30% off purchases on and off shift in Village Hotel Starbucks stores.
- Strong training and development opportunities, including Rising Stars and Talent Academy programmes.
- Training across multiple hotel areas using a mobile gaming-based learning platform.
- Discounts and cashback from a wide range of high street brands and supermarkets.
- Well-being and healthcare benefits, plus monthly well-being programmes to support mental health.
- Mental health first aiders and up to 2 mental health days each year.
- Financial wellbeing support and salary drawdown through Wagestream.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme with support and counselling.
- Flexible working hours.
- A fun, supportive, inclusive workplace with regular team events.
- Reward and recognition schemes.
- Anniversary rewards for important service milestones.
- Electric car salary sacrifice scheme.
- Your birthday off, guaranteed.
- Discounted health cash plan and sick pay insurance.
- BIG People Days to recognise employees and their local communities.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay and benefits.
- Company pension scheme.
- Life insurance.
What they are looking for
- Strong understanding of excellent customer service.
- Ability to settle guest issues efficiently and in a positive manner.
- Comfort working independently and taking initiative.
- Awareness of what high-quality work looks like.
- Confidence in building and maintaining good relationships with colleagues across departments.
