Job description
Role overview
The Night Porter at Hotel du Vin Poole plays a key part in keeping the hotel operating smoothly overnight, from evening through to early morning. This is a practical, guest-facing position focused on maintaining service standards, supporting the Food & Beverage operation during night hours, and making sure the property is ready for the next day.
What you will do
During your shift, you will welcome guests warmly, help with luggage, respond to enquiries, and keep the hotel’s public spaces in excellent condition. You will also clean communal areas, prepare meeting and event rooms for the following day, and complete nightly health and safety checks.
Working pattern and contract
This is a permanent position based at Hotel du Vin Poole. The role is offered on a 4-days-per-week basis, with flexibility around shift patterns and working days. The business operates every day of the year, and evening and weekend shifts may be required depending on operational needs. Contracted hours and rota details can be discussed at interview.
Pay
The hourly rate is £13.01 plus TRONC/service charge.
Experience and progression
Previous experience in a similar position is helpful, and experience working night shifts is essential. The employer also supports career development through nationally recognised apprenticeships and internal brand training. Long-term progression may lead to Night Supervisor or Assistant Night Manager responsibilities.
Benefits and additional information
Alongside competitive pay, the package includes service charge sharing, meals on duty, paid breaks, annual pay reviews, discounted accommodation and dining, apprenticeship support, retail and leisure discounts, cycle-to-work savings, healthcare cash plans, referral rewards, uniform provision, wellbeing campaigns, pay access through Wagestream, complimentary anniversary stays, employee assistance support, and paid volunteering time for sustainable charities.
Sustainability and equal opportunity
The hotel group operates with a strong sustainability focus, including renewable electricity use, waste reduction targets, eco-friendly cleaning systems, and paid volunteering days for sustainable charities. The employer is also an equal opportunities organisation and welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or age.
