This is a full-time on-site position with pay set according to experience, in the range of 40,000 to 55,000. The company works with global brands in sports nutrition, active nutrition, and health & wellness, developing functional beverages, shots, powders, and sachets from early concept stage through to manufacturing and final release.

The role suits someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, brings structure to technical work, and is focused on delivering strong product outcomes as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate new and existing beverage and powder products within the sports nutrition and health & wellness categories as part of the NPD team.
  • Evaluate new product ideas from a technical perspective and identify formulation, manufacturing, microbiological, and quality-related risks during development.
  • Create laboratory samples and guide products through optimisation, scale-up, and commercial launch.
  • Lead product validation work, including microbiological analysis, shelf-life evaluation, stability testing, and risk assessments before launch.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Procurement to ensure recipes are practical, scalable, and suitable for factory manufacture.
  • Assist with factory trials, investigate technical issues, and help implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Work with NPD and Quality teams on specifications, technical files, and related quality records.
  • Contribute to HACCP reviews, raw material risk assessments, and change control for both new and improved products.
  • Keep development records, validation documents, and technical decisions accurate, complete, and well organised.
  • Track trends and regulatory changes in the sports nutrition, nutrition, health, and wellness sectors to generate new product and concept ideas.
  • Handle customer technical questions, support internal investigations, and take part in continuous improvement work when required.
  • Maintain a tidy laboratory, including calibration of equipment, stock control, and adherence to good laboratory practices.

Requirements

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a closely related scientific subject.
  • At least 3 years of experience in product development for food, beverage, or nutritional supplement manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of beverage and powder formulation.
  • Practical experience with microbiological risk assessment, shelf-life testing, and product validation.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, food safety systems, and quality management practices.
  • Background in supporting factory trials and resolving technical manufacturing issues.
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage several projects in a fast-moving setting.
  • Good analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work across Production, Quality, and Commercial teams.
  • Competence with computers, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
