About the Role

As a Mortgage Specialist, you will play a crucial role in guiding clients through the mortgage process, supported by industry-leading training and competitive referral programs. Responsibilities
- Cultivate and manage relationships with a referral network to generate new mortgage business and increase BMO's market share in home financing.
- Identify sales opportunities and refer clients to BMO colleagues for other financial needs.
- Develop and implement effective marketing and sales strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, operating directives, and all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively engage with referral sources, including national and local partnerships, to discuss home financing solutions.
- Support the execution of targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other business initiatives.
- Actively seek opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell BMO products to meet individual sales and profitability targets.
- Expand your professional network by obtaining referrals from existing relationships.
- Enhance BMO's community presence by participating in industry events such as trade shows and conferences.
- Act as a customer advocate throughout the mortgage application and processing stages.
- Complete all required onboarding activities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, building trust through expertise, responsiveness, and support.
- Guide customers through the entire mortgage application and processing journey.
- Collaborate with branch teams to ensure smooth customer handoffs, finalize mortgage documentation, and refer clients with non-mortgage needs.
- Resolve customer issues promptly or escalate complex matters to ensure customer satisfaction and timely fund disbursement.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service, identifying customer needs for various banking products and referring them to appropriate BMO partners.
- Stay informed about customer needs, industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to mortgage products and services.
- Address customer service issues within established guidelines, escalating persistent or complex issues as needed.
- Develop innovative solutions and provide recommendations aligned with business strategy and stakeholder requirements.
- Offer advice and guidance on the implementation of solutions to assigned business groups.
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in determining business priorities and the optimal sequence for executing business strategies.
- Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic challenges.
- Liaise with various BMO teams and customers to ensure the satisfactory completion of home financing applications.
- Maintain accurate records in BMO's internal systems regarding customer opportunities, transactions, and issues.
- Analyze data to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Compile data for regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Execute routine tasks within established service level agreements.
- Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Engage with your referral network to foster strong relationships that generate mortgage originations.
- Complete all necessary transactions in compliance with guidelines and requirements to maintain operational integrity.

Qualifications
- Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth understanding of the mortgage lending process and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation abilities.
- Expertise in self-management, teamwork, personal lending, and relationship management.
- Functional knowledge of personal banking, investments, trust services, business and commercial lending, and cash management.
- Solid understanding of the broader real estate industry and mortgage market dynamics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient collaboration and teamwork skills.

- The position is full-time and onsite.
- Compensation is commission-based, with the listed salary representing BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors like location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
- Part-time roles will have salaries pro-rated based on hours worked.
