Job description
About the Company
Waipapa Pine, which operates under Fletcher Building, is an established Northland manufacturer of quality sawn timber products with sites in Waipapa and Whangārei. The business has long been committed to creating employment opportunities for people across Northland and is now looking to grow its production team.
Role Overview
The company is hiring dependable, long-term Mill Hands for its Waipapa sawmill near Kerikeri. This position supports daily timber processing by pulling, stacking, and handling timber within the mill. The role follows a four-day working week, Monday to Friday roster, with weekends off. Standard working hours are between 7:00am and 6:30pm.
About You
To be successful, you should be able to do demanding physical work, remain injury-free, and repeatedly lift and stack heavy timber throughout the day. Experience in a sawmill is preferred, and prior work in physically intensive, hands-on roles is essential. You must also show a strong commitment to workplace safety, have a full driver licence, reliable transport, and the right to work in New Zealand. A steady employment background and a genuine interest in long-term work are important. You should also be a positive team player who contributes to a collaborative and supportive environment.
Benefits
Employees receive paid meal breaks along with access to a wide discount network that includes PlaceMakers, Z Petrol, PB Technologies, and other partners. The business also provides an Employee Education Fund for employees and dependents to support learning and development, an Employee Welfare Fund for times of need, a generous parental leave policy, and KiwiSaver matching contributions of up to 4% of base salary. Team members can also expect a positive, inclusive workplace with opportunities for long-term career growth.
Additional Information
For safety reasons, pre-employment medical screening and a criminal history check are required. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. The employer encourages people from underrepresented groups to apply even if they do not meet every requirement, and values diversity as a strength of the team. The posting also closes with the word “lifestyles.”
