Medical Scribe

Role overview

Pacific Skin Institute is looking for a dependable, team-oriented Medical Scribe who is enthusiastic about medicine and patient care. This position is suited to someone who enjoys supporting clinicians, helping patients feel at ease, and building experience for a future path in healthcare such as health care administration, nursing, physician assistant or nurse practitioner studies, or medical school.

What you will do

In this role, you will join the provider during patient visits and accurately capture the full clinical encounter. Your documentation will include the patient history and physical exam, diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, prescriptions, patient orders, and procedures. You will also support the clinic through electronic medical record tasks, patient communication, and back-office work when needed.

Additional responsibilities

• Join the provider during consultations and examinations and assist as needed.
• Work in the electronic medical record system and follow task lists to handle callbacks, lab results, patient requests, referrals, and scheduling.
• Step in with back-office duties whenever you are not directly assisting with a patient visit.
• Respond to patient questions and concerns with clear and accurate information.
• Keep clinic spaces and exam rooms clean before and after patient use.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate brings strong documentation ability, excellent verbal and interpersonal communication, high attention to detail, and a professional bedside manner. Fast and accurate typing is also important, with a minimum touch-typing speed of 60 words per minute. The clinic also expects flexibility to work across its four locations when staffing needs require it.

Location flexibility

Pacific Skin Institute operates in Sacramento, Folsom, Elk Grove, and Vacaville. You should be willing to travel between these sites as needed.
