Role summary

The Mechanical Engineer - Field Service supports workshop and on-site operations by handling the servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment. The position focuses on identifying mechanical and hydraulic issues, carrying out preventive and corrective work, assisting with commissioning and overhauls, overseeing site execution, and ensuring spare parts are coordinated according to OEM requirements and internal processes. The role partners with service teams, parts staff, and customers to reduce downtime, uphold safety standards, and support reliable equipment performance across UAE operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify faults in heavy equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems, including excavators, loaders, cranes, dozers, forklifts, and dumpers.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance, major overhauls, and breakdown repairs.
• Attend field service requests and respond to emergency breakdown situations.
• Review and understand technical drawings, service manuals, and schematics.
• Analyze root causes of failures and suggest suitable corrective measures.
• Inspect equipment and prepare service documentation and job cards.
• Oversee field service work and technicians at assigned project locations.
• Track job progress, workmanship, productivity, and HSE compliance.
• Plan spare parts needs and make sure materials are available in time for service jobs.
• Work with stores, procurement, workshop, and field teams on parts planning and inventory support.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and major overhaul activities.
• Observe HSE policies and safe work practices at all times.
• Ensure assignments are finished within the given time frame and quality expectations.

Required qualifications and experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in heavy equipment service, maintenance, field operations, or spare parts coordination.
• Good understanding of heavy equipment mechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and axles.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical problems.
• Prior experience in the UAE or GCC is preferred.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and service reporting tools.
• Ability to perform under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
• UAE driving license preferred for field-based duties.
