Job description

Company Overview

Mali Mchangani Zanzibar Boutique Hotel is an independent hospitality project coming soon in the Nungwi coastal area, just a short stroll from one of Zanzibar’s most scenic beaches. It is being launched as a sole proprietorship with a focus on attentive, personalized hospitality and an island experience that feels authentic. The property will include 27 thoughtfully planned guest rooms, a swimming pool, and an on-site restaurant serving both local and international dishes. The hotel is being positioned as a peaceful getaway for holidaymakers, couples, and small groups who want a calm stay by the ocean while remaining close to the attractions of Nungwi. Its goal is to combine contemporary comfort with Zanzibar’s natural charm and welcoming culture to deliver memorable, serene guest experiences.

Role Overview

This full-time Marketing Manager position is based in Nungwi and follows a hybrid working model, allowing some tasks to be handled from home. The role is central to shaping and executing the hotel’s marketing approach so the brand gains visibility, attracts reservations, and supports both the opening phase and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

The selected professional will oversee digital marketing initiatives, keep the hotel’s website and social channels active, and manage presence on online travel agency platforms. The role also includes planning offers and campaigns, producing marketing materials, building relationships with local enterprises and tourism partners, and reviewing performance data to improve outcomes. In addition, the Marketing Manager will conduct market and competitor research, help manage the marketing budget, and work closely with hotel leadership and operations teams to ensure messaging stays consistent across guest communications and promotional efforts.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate should bring experience in marketing strategy and planning, preferably in hospitality, tourism, or another service-oriented sector. Strong capability in digital marketing is important, especially across social media, email campaigns, and basic SEO/SEM. The role also calls for the ability to write and refine marketing content such as website copy, social media posts, newsletters, and promotional creatives.

Applicants should be comfortable working with marketing and analytics platforms such as Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and OTA tools. Experience in brand development, campaign execution, and outreach or partnership building will be valuable, along with solid analytical skills for monitoring KPIs and adjusting campaigns based on results. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and project coordination skills are expected, as the role involves managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-moving pre-opening environment.

A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent hands-on experience may also be considered. The position is based in Nungwi and requires adaptability to a hybrid setup and a hotel that is still in its early growth stage. Fluency in both English and Swahili is required.
