Job description

About Sumble

Sumble builds account intelligence and signal coverage that helps go-to-market teams uncover opportunities that traditional data providers miss. The platform maps accounts, people, and job postings around the world to surface actionable insights, such as identifying companies in the US that are actively running data migration projects involving Databricks and the specific people leading them.

The company is supported by a $38.5M Series A from Coatue and Canaan. Its team includes engineers and sales leaders from organizations such as Google, Meta, and Snowflake. Sumble has already reached millions in revenue without a dedicated marketing function, and this role is intended to be a foundational marketing hire reporting directly to the Head of Marketing.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco and works in a remote-friendly way across US time zones.

Role overview

Sumble is looking for a senior individual contributor to lead how the company communicates externally. This person will shape the strategic narrative, editorial voice, content assets, and organic social presence that build the brand over time. The role does not include direct reports by design, but it does come with substantial ownership, decision-making authority, and budget for tools and outside support.

You will define the company’s voice, set the standards for what gets published, and help determine how Sumble shows up across long-form writing, social content, founder posts, ads, sales collateral, and brand assets. The team expects modern AI workflows and a small network of specialist partners to be part of the operating model, not an afterthought.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain Sumble’s brand voice, including the tone guide, style rules, and editorial standards used across every channel.
  • Own the company’s strategic story and adapt it as the product, market, and company evolve.
  • Turn the narrative into practical assets such as essays, presentations, talks, ad concepts, and other customer-facing materials.
  • Work closely with founders, the Head of Marketing, and the sales team to ensure the market story and sales story stay aligned.
  • Lead organic social strategy, with LinkedIn as the primary channel, including calendar planning, copywriting, posting cadence, and performance iteration.
  • Ghostwrite posts for founders, executives, and other key team members so their voices feel distinct, credible, and consistent.
  • Build and manage a content system that includes pillars, distribution loops, and measurement, rather than ad hoc posting.
  • Write across both long-form and short-form formats, from market essays and analyses to social copy, ad copy, and hooks that grab attention quickly.
  • Plan and manage the editorial calendar so that long-form and short-form content reinforce one another.
  • Shape video and other multimedia content by briefing editors, designers, and production partners.
  • Translate major narrative ideas into multi-format campaigns, such as turning one essay into a video and then into a week of social content.
  • Build content that supports revenue, including case-style stories, competitive comparisons, objection-handling pieces, decks, one-pagers, landing pages, campaign emails, lifecycle nurture, and ad creative.
  • Use Sumble’s own platform data and signals to create distinctive content such as market maps, hiring-signal reports, adoption analyses, and other original GTM intelligence.
  • Extract meaningful stories from raw data without needing to be a data scientist.
  • Improve discoverability across classic search and AI answer engines, including tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews.
  • Collaborate with SEO specialists, structured content efforts, and original-data initiatives to compound visibility over time.
  • Measure performance by content piece and channel, then adjust based on what drives pipeline, brand lift, or no meaningful result.
  • Maintain a tight feedback loop with Sales and Customer Success to learn which assets help close and renew business.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of B2B content experience, ideally in GTM-related categories such as sales tech, data infrastructure, or RevOps platforms.
  • Comfort writing for GTM buyers such as CROs, RevOps leaders, sales leaders, and marketing operations teams.
  • Ability to work effectively across both long-form and short-form content formats.
  • Prior experience defining or evolving a brand voice, ideally giving a B2B SaaS brand more personality and clarity.
  • A strong commercial mindset and direct experience partnering with sales teams to create content that helps advance deals.
  • Genuine curiosity about data and the ability to find compelling stories inside datasets and platform signals.
  • A self-directed senior contributor style, with experience building or leading content functions, making editorial calls independently, and preferring deep individual contribution over people management.
  • Demonstrated use of AI in real content production workflows, with examples of work improved by an AI stack.
  • Experience coordinating external specialists such as brand consultants, SEO agencies, designers, video teams, and freelance writers.
  • Strong ghostwriting ability, especially for executive and founder voices.
  • Working knowledge of the B2B content stack, including CMS tools, SEO/AEO tools, and analytics platforms.

Benefits

  • Top-tier medical, dental, and vision coverage in the US.
  • 401(k) retirement plan for US employees.
  • Four weeks of paid time off.
  • Equity in a fast-growing Series A company.
  • Generous AI token usage allowance.
