Job description
About Payscale
Payscale is a compensation technology company that helps organizations turn pay into a strategic advantage. Backed by decades of work in trusted data sourcing and AI-enabled tools, the company provides practical insights through its solutions — Payfactors, Marketpay, and Paycycle — and serves well-known employers such as Cintas, Leidos, Chipotle, Brookdale Senior Living, Ohio State University, American Airlines, and TJX Companies.
The company’s purpose is to help teams create confidence around compensation.
Role Overview
Payscale is seeking a Marketing Designer who already uses AI-first design tools as part of everyday work. The creative team is intentionally small and fast-moving, so this role is meant to increase output and help the team move quickly without sacrificing quality.
You will partner closely with the head of Creative on a wide mix of work, including research report layouts, product launch kits, social templates, email headers, and advertising variations. This is a broad design role for someone who can shift comfortably between tools such as Figma, Canva, and InDesign while maintaining strong visual quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Create marketing assets in multiple formats, including digital ads for Google Display, LinkedIn, and Meta, along with email headers, social graphics, event collateral, and presentation decks.
- Build and update the layout system for Payscale’s monthly research publications, turning structured data and written content into polished, print-ready or publication-ready designs.
- Manage the self-serve template systems in Canva and Figma, including creating, documenting, and extending reusable templates for Demand Gen, Content, and Comms teams.
- Produce many versioned assets quickly by using AI-supported workflows, starting from a single master design and adapting it to all required channel and size specifications.
- Handle simple social motion work for Instagram Reels and LinkedIn videos using tools such as Canva Animate and Runway, gradually taking on more of this work as AI capabilities improve.
- Work with Brand and Demand teams on briefs, review cycles, and delivery schedules while keeping communication clear and quality standards high at every handoff.
Requirements
- At least 3 to 5 years of design experience in marketing or in-house creative teams, supported by a portfolio showing both versatility and strong execution.
- Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with experience in long-form layout and report production.
- Experience designing data visualizations and presenting charts, tables, and statistics in a way that is clear and accessible.
- Hands-on use of Adobe Firefly.
- Working knowledge of Canva AI tools such as Magic Switch, Text to Image, and Brand Kit.
- Practical familiarity with Figma for template maintenance and collaboration on landing page assets.
- Solid understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy, and readability, especially when working with dense data-heavy content.
- Strong production habits, including the ability to manage multiple deliverables at once and meet deadlines consistently.
- Independent working style with the ability to manage tasks, surface blockers early, and operate without constant direction.
- Preferred extras include basic animation experience with Canva Animate, Runway, Pika, or Adobe After Effects, plus familiarity with motion graphics and B2B or SaaS brand design.
Work Model and Location
This is a remote-first role based in the United States. Employees may work from home, use company-paid co-working spaces, or combine both approaches as needed. The company does not operate from centralized offices.
For home-based work, Payscale recommends a dedicated workspace with reliable high-speed broadband or fiber internet at a minimum of 100 Mbps. Satellite internet is strongly discouraged. A device for multifactor authentication, such as a smartphone or tablet, is also needed.
Employees may occasionally meet in person for company events, typically only a few times each year.
Payscale currently employs people in the US, Canada, the UK, the Philippines, and Romania, but hiring is not available in Quebec Province, Northern Ireland, or Hawaii.
Benefits and Perks
- Flexible paid time off.
- 14 paid company holidays, including 2 floating holidays.
- Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, with premiums covered up to 100% by the company.
- Unlimited infertility coverage through medical plans.
- Additional supplemental health coverage for employees and their families.
- 401(k) retirement plan with an immediate company match that becomes fully vested right away.
- 16 weeks of paid parental leave for both birthing and non-birthing parents.
- HSA options with company contributions each pay period.
- FSA options for pre-tax employee contributions.
- Annual remote-work stipend for wellness or home office equipment.
- Monthly all-hands meetings and opportunities to connect with executive leadership through AMAs.
- Continued learning and development support.
- Ongoing feedback culture focused on performance and career growth.
- Employee Resource Groups, volunteer hours, and other engagement opportunities.
