The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager is responsible for delivering rigorous analysis that supports informed decision-making and strengthens risk-aware management across business units. The position plays a meaningful part in improving profitability and operating efficiency by examining business needs and risks, suggesting practical optimization measures, and contributing to board and committee reporting.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and maintain reporting that reflects corporate and business-line financial performance.
  • Track results and operating processes against established risk frameworks and evaluate whether targets are being met.
  • Support revenue-generating teams with timely analysis and reporting that help them understand, manage, and optimize market and operational risk.
  • Build reporting on portfolio performance, profitability, and risk exposure, and use the findings to shape recommendations and decisions.
  • Deliver information quickly and accurately so business leaders can make well-informed decisions.
  • Collect, combine, and analyze financial information and KPI data from multiple sources for recurring and ad hoc requests.
  • Work with a high level of flexibility, independence, precision, and speed, often under tight deadlines.
  • Produce business-unit portfolio reports, efficiency and KPI dashboards, continuity reports comparing actuals to budget, and other executive or senior management requests.
  • Support Accounting and Finance and other business areas as needed.
  • Contribute to a strategic center of excellence by performing analysis and leading selected strategic financial studies.
  • Help implement business-unit tactics that align with broader corporate strategy.
  • Provide objective, unbiased analysis of front-office business decisions.
  • Partner with managers across business units to gather assumptions that feed financial models.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic models for business lines, projects, and products.
  • Run detailed models and review outputs for accuracy and relevance.
  • Ensure data is extracted correctly and interpreted properly from different information sources.
  • Coach, assign work to, and review analysis prepared by analysts in the analytics group.
  • Improve annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, including the use of budgeting and forecasting tools.
  • Find ways to improve the technical accuracy, validation, and structure of financial analysis.
  • Create supporting documentation and structure key processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Identify, assess, and analyze operational risk embedded in products, activities, processes, and systems.

What You Bring

  • A post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business is preferred.
  • CFA or CPA designation completed, or at minimum in progress.
  • At least 7 years of progressive, relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience reviewing and overseeing the work of junior team members.

  • Solid understanding of balance sheet risk measurement, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Good grasp of internal controls and operational risk concepts.
  • Ability to evaluate complex financial issues and recommend strategies, plans, and tactics that support business goals.
