Job description
Role overview
This position is focused on building and improving Etihad’s non-ticket revenue lines. The role acts as a key driver of ancillary revenue and merchandising strategy, shaping products that strengthen the guest experience while increasing revenue per passenger. It brings together digital, sales, and airport operations, and uses advanced analytics, including AI and machine learning, to create more relevant offers such as branded fare optimization and partner services like travel insurance and car rentals.
The role also involves tracking commercial results, spotting growth opportunities, and rolling out sophisticated merchandising approaches across digital channels to support Etihad’s leadership in aviation retail.
Key accountabilities
- Serve as the specialist for ancillary revenue and merchandising, and partner with Revenue Management, Sales, Digital, eCommerce, Product, and Airport Operations teams to identify and develop new revenue opportunities.
- Own the full lifecycle of new ancillary products, ensuring they are aligned with Etihad’s commercial priorities.
- Review performance across all ancillary categories and turn take-rate and revenue-per-passenger insights into practical actions for improvement.
- Lead the rollout of new ancillary offerings and oversee the complete portfolio of third-party products, including services such as travel insurance and car rentals, while ensuring they fit the brand and commercial direction.
- Build and improve processes that use new technology, including AI and machine learning, to enhance guest-facing products and revenue outcomes.
- Direct the strategy and performance of branded fares, covering pricing, positioning, merchandising, and buy-up optimization across all channels.
- Design and execute the ancillary merchandising approach across Etihad’s digital platforms.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree and bring 7 years of experience in travel or airline environments, including at least 3 years specifically in ancillary revenue and product development. The role requires strong analytical capability for reviewing ancillary performance data and making both strategic and operational recommendations. Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve revenue goals is essential, along with prior responsibility for third-party commercial partnerships in aviation, travel, or eCommerce, including contract negotiation and performance tracking. A solid background in branded fares or fare-family strategy, especially pricing, segmentation, and merchandising, is also needed. In addition, candidates should understand digital merchandising principles, including user experience considerations and A/B testing.
