Job description

About the role

IMDA is driving Singapore’s ambition to become a global leader in the digital economy. Its mission is to help businesses and the workforce use digital technologies to spark innovation and build trust in a more connected world.

This role is for a Manager who will contribute as part of a team leading Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) work in AI and Trust Technologies, along with cross-domain research and research-to-business efforts. The ideal candidate is self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others. Experience in shaping research-to-business strategies, leading thought leadership initiatives for Singapore, and coordinating international partnerships through the RIE ecosystem will be important. The role also offers opportunities to engage with local and international research communities and organisations such as WEF, GPAI, and NIST to advance technology thought leadership.

The organisation is looking for someone to help shape Singapore’s digital future through research, partnerships, and strategic execution.

What you will work on

  • Design and advance research-to-business strategies for AI and Trust Technologies, as well as cross-domain research aligned to Singapore’s national priorities. This includes preparing RIE funding proposals and defining success frameworks for the research programmes.
  • Build strong collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Research Institutes (RIs) in AI, Trust Technologies, and cross-domain research. Represent Singapore and/or IMDA in research forums and standards-related committees.
  • Drive efforts to turn research outcomes into practical business opportunities.
  • Support and coordinate international collaboration initiatives.
  • Assist senior leadership in tracking global developments and shifts in AI, Trust Technologies, and cross-domain research, and provide timely insights to inform policy, unlock new value, and anticipate risks.
  • Communicate perspectives on AI, Trust Technologies, and cross-domain research through blogs, social media, and papers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience managing technology teams in research and/or engineering environments.
  • Understanding of the RIE ecosystem.
  • Strong strategic mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication abilities, plus strong presentation and engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and work effectively with both local and overseas partners.
