Job description

About the Organisation

The Pique Lab is focused on delivering a high-quality Science learning experience for students aged 9 to 16 in Singapore. Its programmes are designed using education research, data-informed methods, and a clear aim: to make Science engaging, reduce learning friction, and help students build real interest in the subject.

What began as a two-founder team has expanded into a workforce of more than 80 people across 10 departments over the last decade. The company’s proprietary teaching approach and exam-focused resources have supported more than 20,000 students in improving their Science exam outcomes. Headquartered in Singapore, it also operates in China, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

The workplace is described as open, fast-moving, and flat in structure, with emphasis placed on capability and contribution rather than job titles. The team is seeking Science enthusiasts who enjoy working closely with others, using technology to improve efficiency, and solving challenges directly.

Role Summary

The Management Associate role is an entry point into teaching and curriculum-related work, with a focus on Primary Science. In the early stage, the role combines classroom management, lesson preparation, content creation, and parent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee both online and in-person classes while keeping track of student learning needs and motivation.
  • Prepare and deliver lessons in line with the curriculum, with an emphasis on breaking down Science ideas clearly and addressing common misconceptions.
  • Create written and video content to extend learning beyond the classroom.
  • Update parents on student progress and recommend ways to strengthen performance.

Training and Career Growth

New hires receive structured mentorship and intensive training throughout the first 9 months. This includes the Teaching Associate Programme, which is designed to build confidence and teaching capability through several focus areas:

  • Strengthening subject mastery, including key concepts and common exam question formats.
  • Improving lesson delivery through better coherence, clarity, pacing, gestures, expressions, and humour.
  • Developing classroom management techniques that keep lessons engaging and disciplined.
  • Learning how to use cues and encouragement to build student confidence and interest in Science.
  • Gaining the ability to communicate effectively with parents so they remain supportive of the teaching process.

After mastering the core fundamentals, there are opportunities to move into either a specialist path or a management path, with the possibility of taking on projects or leading teams.

Requirements

  • A strong Science foundation, ideally demonstrated at the primary or secondary level, with the ability to simplify complex concepts. University-level Science study is a plus.
  • Some prior teaching exposure, whether in schools, learning centres, private tuition, volunteering, or other child-focused teaching settings.
  • A positive, confident, and engaging personality that works well in group settings and helps create an enjoyable learning environment.
  • Strong determination, discipline, and willingness to work hard toward long-term career goals.
  • The ability to learn quickly and apply new teaching techniques on the fly, especially during training.

Perks and Benefits

  • Structured mentorship, training, and regular feedback.
  • Clear advancement options across specialist and management tracks.
  • Competitive compensation with a base salary starting from $4,000 per month, plus variable pay linked to contribution.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Technology-related benefits.
  • Up to 16 days of paid vacation leave.
  • Paid birthday leave.
  • Paid marriage leave.
  • Paid compassionate leave.
  • Time off for errands.
  • Wellness breaks.
  • Access to a fully stocked pantry.
  • Free meals on selected school holidays and weekends.
  • Company social events in addition to team socials.
  • Fruity Friday care packages.

Important Notes

This position is paid in full even during the training period.

The company does not offer part-time teaching roles because of the resources needed to train teachers to a high standard.

The organisation focuses exclusively on Science and plans to continue building deeper expertise in this subject over the next 3 to 5 years. Candidates who only want to teach Mathematics or English will not be a fit.
