About the company
CHAJI is developing the infrastructure that supports light electric vehicle adoption in East Africa. Its platform brings together rapid distributed charging, battery intelligence, and Energy-as-a-Service financing to support the growth of LEV electrification across emerging markets.
Role overview
The organization is seeking a Management Accountant to own the day-to-day finance workload, including bookkeeping, payroll, management reporting, grant-related reporting, and audit preparation. The position offers a practical, high-impact role in shaping and improving finance operations while working closely with the CEO and CTO.
Key responsibilities
- Handle bookkeeping, payments, treasury tasks, M-Pesa float management, and supplier coordination using Zoho Books.
- Prepare monthly payroll and ensure full compliance with statutory obligations such as PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, and iTax submissions.
- Develop budgets, forecast cash flow, and produce monthly management accounts.
- Support donor and grant reporting, including project accounting across several initiatives.
- Prepare for audits and help improve internal controls on an ongoing basis.
- Contribute to the consolidation and simplification of finance systems and workflows as the business expands.
Requirements
- A BCom, Accounting, or Finance degree, along with CPA or ACCA certification at finalist or qualified level.
- At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience covering key areas of a finance function.
- Good understanding of Kenyan tax legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
- Practical experience with accounting systems such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools.
- Prior exposure to donor-funded grants and finance process improvement will be an added advantage.
