Role overview

Kraft Heinz is seeking a Maintenance Lead to strengthen its maintenance function at the Tomoana site in New Zealand. This is a permanent, full-time position with 40 guaranteed hours each week, offered within a global food and beverage business that places strong emphasis on internal progression and leadership growth.

About the company

Kraft Heinz is among the world’s largest food and beverage groups, with eight brands that each generate over $1 billion in sales. Its portfolio spans more than 200 established and emerging brands, manufactured and sold across more than 40 countries. The range includes sauces and condiments, cheese and dairy, meals, meat products, refreshment drinks, coffee, infant nutrition, and other grocery categories.

What you will do

  • Track and lift maintenance results using key indicators such as safety performance, equipment uptime, reliability, and completion of planned maintenance.
  • Help develop and continuously improve the site maintenance system and the team’s day-to-day working methods.
  • Oversee maintenance staff on shift, while coaching, training, and evaluating their performance and capability.
  • Work with the planner to prepare weekly maintenance schedules, prioritise tasks, and assign the right resources.
  • Make sure breakdowns, fault-finding, and repair work are carried out safely, accurately, and within required timeframes.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date in the system, including work orders, breakdown notes, and preventive maintenance history, and train others to use the platform.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, including regular checks of facilities and equipment.
  • Handle people-related processes for direct reports such as rosters, leave, timesheet review, and payroll accuracy.
  • Support the recruitment and supervision of internal tradespeople and contractors for installations, repairs, and project activity.
  • Assist with cost control through budgeting support, tracking maintenance spend, and managing materials and equipment stock.

What we are looking for

  • A relevant qualification is preferred, along with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
  • Strong practical maintenance background in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of packaging and mechanical operations is needed, with electrical maintenance preferred, and exposure to instrumentation and utility systems.
  • Excellent people and communication skills to guide, motivate, train, assess, and coach a diverse team.
  • Ability to plan effectively and adapt to change in a large corporate environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer systems is required.
  • Comfort working in a continuous operation that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Full legal right to work in New Zealand.

Benefits

  • Performance-based pay with variable compensation linked to both company and individual results, in addition to a competitive base salary.
  • Paid parental leave for both primary and secondary caregivers.
  • Flexible leave options, including purchased leave, volunteer leave, and LiveWell leave.
  • Great Place to Work certification in Australia and New Zealand.
  • In-house training opportunities.
  • Corporate discount programs.
